Providence to sell four Vancouver clinics to PeaceHealth

PeaceHealth has agreed to buy four Providence medical clinics in Vancouver by the end of the year, the two nonprofit Catholic health systems announced Thursday.

PeaceHealth, which is headquartered in Vancouver, expects to finalize the acquisition sometime in December, pending regulatory approval. PeaceHealth and Providence declined to disclose the terms of the deal, including the price of the acquisition.

Providence officials declined to say why it sold the clinics. PeaceHealth noted in a press release Providence’s footprint in Vancouver is limited, and that it doesn’t have an acute care hospital in Clark County

The four Providence clinics are:

• Providence Medical Group Esther Short Clinic, 700 Washington St., Suite 105

• Providence Camas Medical Office Building, 3101 S.E. 192nd Ave.

• Providence Mill Plain Medical Office Building, 315 S.E. Stone Mill Drive

• Providence Vancouver Rehabilitation, 222 Park Plaza Drive, Park Tower 3, Suite 120

The clinics collectively employ around 100, including physicians, nurses, medical assistants and administrative workers to provide primary care, outpatient rehabilitation and walk-in services.

According to the announcement, Providence employees at the clinics will be offered similar positions within the PeaceHealth system. PeaceHealth said the only service not part of the acquisition is an occupational medicine practice at the Mill Plain building, which will close. The health systems said that Providence will try to place those employees at other Portland-area clinics.

Dr. Melissa Edwards, chief medical officer of PeaceHealth Medical Group, said she expects the transition to be “seamless” and that both health systems would work to make sure it “does not disrupt quality patient care.”
