Lewis County Fire District 14, also known as Randle Fire & EMS, responded to — and ultimately extinguished — a ‘fully-involved’ structure blaze near Davis Creek on March 27.
According to the agency, personnel were dispatched just before midnight Friday and worked into the early hours of Saturday, March 28.
“Twelve members from Fire District 14, along with additional units from Packwood, arrived to find an unoccupied structure fully involved in flames,” a news release from Randle Fire & EMS stated. “Crews gained access through a locked gate and initiated a defensive attack to contain the fire.”
According to the release, personnel spent about four hours engaged in “extensive attack, overhaul and cleanup” before clearing the scene.
Firefighters indicated the main structure sustained “heavy damage,” but said they were able to protect “nearby exposures.”
The cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation.
“A huge thank-you to our dedicated volunteers for their quick response and hard work into the early morning hours — your commitment to serving our community truly makes a difference,” the agency stated.
