Randle Tire Pile: ‘A Very Successful Recycle Day’

Posted

Three full 40-yard dumpsters were topped with over 1,000 tires during a volunteer-planned tire recycling event in Randle on Saturday.

Organizers Gina and Dave Owen, of Randle, in partnership with the Gifford Pinchot Trash Force and the Pinchot Partners, collected tires, a full dumpster of scrap metal and about 100 appliances.

The event was held at the intersection of Silverbrook Road and Forest Road 47. It was free to Lewis County residents and sponsored by the county’s solid waste utility department, the state Department of Ecology and community members.

Allowed appliances included washers and dryers, hot water heaters, stoves, dishwashers, refrigerators and freezers.

In an email, Gina Owen called it “a very successful recycle day. … We had amazing volunteers and hope to do it again in the fall!”
