Rural Baseball Inc. traveled all the way to Calgary to play a team from one county south, but made the trip worth it, downing Kelso Premier 3-1 in its first game at the Senior Babe Ruth Regional tournament.

“The guys came out ready to go,” RBI coach J.C. Workman said. “They really wanted to get after it right away and that’s what I love about these guys.”

Jake Comer hit a two-run double to put RBI up 2-0, and Connor Darnell added a solo home run.

Comer started on the mound and earned the win, going 4 ⅔ innings and allowing just one run and one hit. Tre Groninger got the Dirtbags the rest of the way.

RBI will continue pool play Wednesday against Brewster.
