A 72-year-old Gold Bar man was injured Friday afternoon when his motorcycle struck a vehicle on Interstate 5 south of Napavine, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Mark E. Plumb was traveling north on a 2011 Yamaha XVZ1300 at about 1 p.m. near mile marker 70 when he failed to stop for traffic and struck the vehicle in front of him.

The second vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, was being driven by 61-year-old Vader resident John E. Kindell.

Plumb, who was wearing a helmet, was injured and transported to Providence Centralia Hospital. Kindell was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt.

Both vehicles received reportable damage.

The cause of the crash was listed by the state patrol as “following too close.”

Drugs and alcohol were not a factor, according to the state patrol.
