Santa Parade to Ring In Christmas Season

Chehalis’ largest family-oriented Christmas event comes to town again this Saturday, bringing hundreds of people downtown to celebrate the advent of the holiday season.

The 65th Annual Santa Parade: A Storybook Christmas begins 11 a.m. and features more than 60 entries, from community groups to local businesses. As he has done each year, Santa Claus himself will bring Christmas cheer to those gathered.

Buck and Kaye Hubbert, owners of Tires Inc., will serve as grand marshals in this year’s parade, and coincidentally are celebrating their 27th anniversary. Buck Hubbert purchased Tires Inc. in 1970, and three generations of family members are employed at the company, which has maintained a presence on State Avenue for several decades.

The parade route brings entries north on Market Boulevard from Northwest North Street up through the downtown core. The parade will then meander south on Pacific Avenue and finish along Chehalis Avenue to the south.

The Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce, which is presenting this year’s parade, is hosting a toy drive as well. People are encouraged to bring unwrapped toys to the stage along Market Boulevard before the parade.
