The 49-year-old Randle man who was reported missing after he and two others went to pick mushrooms in the Burley Mountain area near Randle in late September has not been located, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) confirmed Monday.

“Our detective division is continuing to look into the case and follow up on any new leads we receive. We have coordinated several searches in the surrounding area without success.  We are planning an additional search in the future as well,” LCSO Special Services Bureau Chief Kevin Engelbertson said via email.

The man reportedly went out into the woods off of Forest Service Road 77 the evening of Sept. 25 with two other males to pick mushrooms. He was last heard from on the morning of Sept. 26 and he was reported as lost just after 3:40 p.m. that day, according to LCSO.

Search and rescue coordinators and volunteers began searching during daylight hours on Wednesday, Sept. 27, and continued searching on Thursday and Friday that week, according to LCSO.

The sheriff's office hasn't released the man's name.
