Sirens: Animal Concern; Drug Violation; Resisting Arrest

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Assault 

• A subject was cited for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence in the 800 block of South Market Boulevard just before 9:20 p.m. on April 1. 

Criminal Trespass 

• A man found sleeping in the doorway of a business in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 8:10 a.m. on March 31 was trespassed from the business. 

• At 4 p.m. on March 31, a caller reported a man with a baseball bat was on the train tracks in the 300 block of Northwest State Avenue “standing in defiance like he is daring a train to come at him.” 

• A subject was reportedly trespassing on train tracks at the intersection of West Main Street and Northwest Railroad Avenue at approximately 11:55 a.m. on April 1. 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A woman was reportedly “outside screaming on the corner” of Northwest Boistfort Street and North Market Boulevard just after 1:10 a.m. on April 1. 

• A “suspicious person” in the women’s bathroom at a park in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street was reportedly “cackling (and) telling people ‘I see you peeing’” at approximately 2:30 p.m. on April 1. The suspects, who were identified as “possibly two female juveniles,” left the scene before officers arrived. 

• A group of juveniles were reportedly “running around and spraying cars with water guns” in the 10 block of Northeast Median Street just before 8:40 p.m. on April 1. 

• A man was reportedly “yelling at vehicles” while holding “a claw hammer” at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 3:45 p.m. on April 2. 

• A woman was reportedly “screaming” at the intersection of North Market Boulevard and Northwest Boistfort Street just after 12:55 a.m. on April 3. The screaming reportedly went on for 30 minutes before the reporting party called. 

Animal Concern 

• A husky was reportedly running loose in the 100 block of Southwest Veterans Way just after 5:55 p.m. on March 31 and was returned to its owner. The reporting party expressed concerns over the husky’s welfare, stating “the dog appeared underweight and had a 20 (pound) chain on.” 

Disputes 

• A verbal dispute was reported at the intersection of Northwest State Avenue and Northwest Middle Street just after 10:50 p.m. on March 31. 

• A verbal dispute where one subject took another subject’s phone was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Airport Road at 11:55 a.m. on April 2. 

Hit-and-Run 

• A hit-and-run reported in the 1300 block of Northwest State Avenue just before 1:30 p.m. on March 31 is under investigation. 

Theft 



• A case of shoplifting was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 5:45 p.m. on  April 1. 

• A vehicle theft reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 8:45 p.m. on April 1 is under investigation. 

• A case of shoplifting was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 9:10 p.m. on April 1. 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A moving van reportedly hit a fire hydrant in the 1500 block of Southwest William Avenue just after 10:20 a.m. on April 1. No injuries were reported, but water from the fire hydrant reportedly flooded a nearby yard and garage. 

Welfare Check 

• Officers were asked to conduct a welfare check on a male subject in the 500 block of Northwest St. Helens Avenue just after 1:10 p.m. on April 2. 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Resisting Arrest 

• A Centralia man was arrested at the intersection of Caveness Drive and Johnson Road at approximately 1:10 p.m. on April 2 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail on outstanding warrants for non-violent felony charges. He was additionally booked on new resisting arrest and obstruction charges. The man reportedly ran from law enforcement several times, kicking down fences and going through residential backyards, according to the Centralia Police Department. The man was apprehended following a successful K9 track. 

Vehicle Accident 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1700 block of Harrison Avenue just before 4:15 p.m. on April 2. 

Malicious Mischief 

• Graffiti was reported on public property in the 1400 block of Logan Street just after 9:25 p.m. on April 2. 

Drug Violation 

• Possible charges against a  juvenile who was allegedly in possession of marijuana during a traffic stop in the 400 block of North Pearl Street just before 10:15 p.m. on April 2 have been referred to a local prosecutor’s office. 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 146 inmates, including 133 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 105 were reported male and 28 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
