CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Theft 

• A 36-year-old Centralia woman was cited for shoplifting alcohol from a store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Nov. 5. 

• Two bottles of alcohol were reportedly shoplifted from a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 10:15 a.m. on Nov. 6. 

• Tools were reported stolen from a business in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue at 11:20 a.m. on Nov. 6. The case is under investigation. 

• Two male subjects from Olympia were cited for third-degree theft in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at 5:55 p.m. on Nov. 6 after they paid for some items at the check stand and tried to conceal unpaid items on their person. A loss prevention employee contacted both subjects and recovered the stolen items. 

• A male subject reportedly stole a six pack of beer from a store in the 400 block of West Main Street just after 9:10 p.m. on Nov. 6 and fled the area on foot. Officers were unable to locate the suspect. 

• Merchandise was reported stolen from a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at approximately 1:35 p.m. on Nov. 7. The suspect fled in a gray Honda Odyssey van. The case is under investigation. 

• A cellphone was reported stolen from the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 9:35 p.m. on Nov. 7. The victim told law enforcement he had allowed an “unknown, dark-skinned male” subject to borrow his cellphone while he went into a store to shop, but when the victim exited the store, “he realized the male had left with his phone.” 

 

Overdose 

• Officers responded to a suspected fentanyl overdose in the 400 block of West Main Street just after 5:50 p.m. on Nov. 5. Two doses of Narcan were administered to the subject, who recovered from the overdose. 

 

Drug violation 

• Just before 8:10 a.m. on Nov. 7, a 27-year-old Centralia man was cited for knowing possession of a controlled substance and reckless endangerment after he allegedly left a bag of suspected meth in a public bathroom in the 2100 block of North Pearl Street. 

 

Hit-and-run 

• A 36-year-old Centralia woman was arrested at the intersection of West Main Street and Harrison Avenue just after 6 p.m. on Nov. 5 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for driving under the influence, hit-and-run and driving with a suspended license after she was involved in a collision and fled the scene. She was located in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue. 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 2100 block of North Pearl Street just after 12:50 p.m. on Nov. 7. 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of West Main and South Ash streets just before 12:15 p.m. on Nov. 6. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue just before 3:20 p.m. on Nov. 6. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 900 block of West Main Street at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Nov. 7. 

 

Malicious mischief 

• A 32-year-old Chehalis woman was cited for malicious mischief after she damaged the window of a residence in the 1100 block of Mellen Street at approximately 7:05 p.m. on Nov. 5. She fled the scene before officers arrived. Her citation was sent to the prosecutor’s office for mailing. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• Two subjects who were found on a business’ property in the 1000 block of Kresky Avenue after hours were trespassed from the property at 10 p.m. on Nov. 5. 

• A 47-year-old homeless man from Vader was trespassed from a business in the 100 block of North Rock Street just before 8:15 a.m. on Nov. 6. 

• An 18-year-old homeless man from Chehalis was trespassed from a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 11:20 p.m. on Nov. 6. 

• A male subject who was “rummaging” through a business’ garbage can in the 200 block of South Tower Avenue was trespassed from the business just after 8:20 a.m. on Nov. 7. 

• A woman who was reportedly littering on a property in the 1500 block of Lum Road was trespassed from the property just before 1:55 p.m. on Nov. 7. She was asked to pick up the garbage. 

• Officers were asked to trespass two homeless men from private property in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 7. The men left the scene before officers arrived. 

 

Mental health agency assist 

• Officers responded to the 2400 block of West Reynolds Avenue just before 11:10 a.m. on Nov. 6 for a report of a “male in crisis trying to stab people with a pen.” The man was taken to Centralia Providence Hospital under the Involuntary Treatment Act. 

 

Suspicious person 



• Just after 6:20 a.m. on Nov. 7, a caller in the 500 block of North Iron Street reported a male that tried to enter her vehicle while she was inside it. Officers contacted the male, “who they believed had mental health issues.” Officers determined no crime had been committed, according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal trespass 

• A homeless man who reportedly urinated in front of the door to a business in the 1500 block of North National Avenue and was “intimidating people who were trying to come in” was moved along at approximately 8:10 a.m. on Nov. 6. 

• A male subject who was going through a business’ garbage cans in the 400 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue at 6:35 p.m. on Nov. 6 was trespassed from the business. 

 

Lost child 

• At 8:45 a.m. on Nov. 6, a caller in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street reported her 5-year-old grandson had gotten out of the house and she did not know where he was. The child was located with a family member.  

 

Unlawful possession 

• A subject was arrested/released or referred on charges for unlawful possession of a firearm after officers responded to a report of threats made in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Nov. 6.

 

Theft 

• A 9mm firearm was reported stolen from a locked glove box in the 1800 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 2:35 p.m. on Nov. 6. 

• A third-degree theft reported in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 4:50 p.m. on Nov. 6 is under investigation. 

• A vehicle prowl reported at the intersection of Southwest Third Street and Southwest Cascade Avenue just before 4:30 a.m. on Nov. 7 is under investigation. 

• A woman was cited for third-degree theft in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 2:45 p.m. on Nov. 7. 

• A vehicle prowl was reported in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 7. 

 

Assault 

• A subject was arrested in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at approximately 4:05 p.m. on Nov. 6 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence after officers responded to a report that the subject stabbed a woman’s vehicle tire with a knife. 

 

Suspicious circumstances 

• Just after 6:10 p.m. on Nov. 6, a caller at a hotel in the 400 block of Northwest Quincy Place reported her room was on fire. An employee advised the caller had memory care issues and confirmed there was no fire. 

• A caller requested a welfare check for a male subject “holding onto a pole (and) bent over” in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard just before 3:25 p.m. on Nov. 7. 

 

Animal abuse 

• At 10:25 a.m. on Nov. 7, a caller in the 700 block of North National Avenue reported a male subject was “beating his husky.” An officer contacted the dog’s owner, who said he did a “discipline swat on the backside for pulling.” The officer noted the “dog seemed okay and allowed me to pet her and did not seem injured.” 

 

Disorderly conduct 

• A male subject was reportedly “walking in the middle of the road (and) also yelling at no one” at the intersection of Northwest West Street and Northwest State Avenue just before 1:20 p.m. on Nov. 7. 

 

Drug violation 

• An “intoxicated guest” at a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was cited for a drug violation just after 7:55 p.m. on Nov. 7. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 151 inmates, including 138 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 111 were reported male and 27 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
