Sirens: Burglary; Assaults; DUI Arrests

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Theft 

• A Centralia woman was cited for stealing a doormat from a business in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Oct. 28. 

• A Honda generator was reported stolen from the 1800 block of North Tower Avenue at 4:20 p.m. on Oct. 28. 

• A 9mm pistol was reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of L Street just after 6:15 p.m. on Oct. 28. The victim told law enforcement they were “unsure of when or how the pistol was taken.” 

• Just after 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 29, a green 1997 Honda Civic with the Washington license plate CCV8902 was reported stolen from the 100 block of South Tower Avenue sometime overnight. 

Burglary 

• Three Stihl chainsaws used by a local Boy Scout troop to cut firewood for fundraisers were reported stolen during a burglary to a church building in the 1100 block of West First Street at 4:55 p.m. on Oct. 29. The case is under investigation. 

Retail Theft

• Merchandise was reported stolen from an outlet store in the 1300 block of Lum Road at 3 p.m. on Oct. 28. 

• Two Portland, Oregon, residents were arrested in the 100 block of West High Street at 6:50 p.m. on Oct. 28 and were booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree theft after they allegedly stole more than $1,700 in clothes and shoes from a business in the 10 block of West High Street. According to the Centralia Police Department, “(the suspects) likely would have gotten away had they not lost the keys to their vehicle prior to the arrival of police.” 

• An unidentified man reportedly shoplifted deli items from a grocery store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 6:05 p.m. on Oct. 30. 

Assault 

• Centralia officers assisted the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office with the arrest of a man suspected of a domestic violence assault in the 800 block of West Sixth Street just before 9:50 p.m. on Oct. 28. 

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 500 block of North Iron Street at 6:45 a.m. on Oct. 29 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.  

• A Tenino woman was arrested in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue at 10:45 p.m. on Oct. 29 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, after allegedly assaulting her husband during a dispute at a local bar. 

• A man reportedly assaulted waitstaff at a restaurant in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Oct. 29, but left the scene before officers arrived. The case is under investigation. 

DUI 

• John R. S. Gladue III, 42, of Chehalis, was arrested in the 1200 block of Lum Road at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Oct. 29 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence. 

• Hugo Flores Suarez, 36, of Centralia, was arrested in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 10:15 p.m. on Oct. 29 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence. 

Vehicle Accidents 



• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison and Belmont avenues just after 10:35 p.m. on Oct. 29. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Alexander and Latona streets just after 1:35 p.m. on Oct. 30. 

• Two vehicles collided in the intersection of Yew and West Main streets just before 8:50 p.m. on Oct. 30. No injuries were reported. 

Trashing a Post Office 

• Just after 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 31, there was a report of an unidentified subject entering a post office in the 200 block of Centralia College Boulevard sometime overnight and throwing garbage on the floor. 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Theft 

• A subject was arrested just after 11:40 a.m. on Oct. 28 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly stealing a vehicle from the 1500 block of North National Avenue. 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 500 block of West Main Street at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 28. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way just after 4:40 p.m. on Oct. 28. 

Dispute

• A possible physical dispute, where a woman allegedly hit a man and took his car keys, was reported at the intersection of South Market Boulevard and Southeast Second Street just after midnight on Oct. 29. 

Trespassing 

• A subject was trespassed from the Drug Court house in the 1200 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just after 12:55 p.m. on Oct. 29. 

Assault 

• A man was arrested in the 100 block of North Market Boulevard just before 5:35 a.m. on Oct. 30 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree assault, domestic violence. 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS 

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 166 inmates, including 153 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 123 were reported male and 30 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
