Sirens: Child taken by CPS after woman overdoses; dogs locked in hot cars; woman steals from hotel, is arrested

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Malicious mischief

• Damage to rented equipment at a construction site was reported in the 1300 block of Alexander Street just after 7:25 a.m. on June 19.

Assault

• A 31-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 600 block of Richmond Avenue just after 9:30 a.m. on June 19 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

• A 29-year-old Winlcok man was arrested in the 1700 block of North Pearl Street just after 10 p.m. on June 19 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence and third-degree malicious mischief, domestic violence after he allegedly pushed a relative and broke a light switch during a dispute.

 

Theft

• A woman was arrested for stealing from a motel in the 1200 block of Alder Street at 8:05 a.m. on June 20. When contacted, the woman “started chanting in another language and would not identify herself.” She was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for third-degree theft and obstruction.

• Clothing was reported stolen from an outlet store in the 2000 block of Haviland Street at 10:25 a.m. on June 20. The suspect fled in a light blue Toyota.

 

Burglary

• A burglary with no suspect that was reported in the 1200 block of Mellen Street just after 8:55 a.m. on June 20 is under investigation.

 

Vehicle accidents

• Minor injuries were reported following a vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of West First and North Pearl streets just after 9 a.m. on June 20.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and West Bridge Street at 9:45 p.m. on June 20. One driver accidentally pressed the gas instead of the brake and collided with the passenger side of a pickup that had the right of way.

 

Overdose

• A woman was referred to Child Protective Services after officers responded to an overdose in a motel room in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road at approximately 1:05 p.m. on June 20. A child in the room was not harmed, but “due to the circumstances surrounding the incident, officers reported the incident to (the state Department of Children, Youth and Family Services),” according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

Drug violation

• A 36-year-old Centralia man was cited for possession of meth after officers saw him smoking a glass pipe containing a crystal substance in the 1200 block of Alder Street at approximately 9:05 p.m. on June 20. Officers were in the area responding to a report of people trespassing on private property.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Fraud

• Identity theft via social media was reported in the 1000 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue just before 8:50 a.m. on June 19.

 

Theft

• A first-degree theft reported in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 2:40 p.m. on June 19 is under investigation.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 6:30 p.m. on June 19 is under investigation.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard just after 9 p.m. on June 19 is under investigation.



 

Dogs in cars

• Two independent callers reported a dog locked in a vehicle in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at about 3:45 p.m. on June 19. An officer confirmed the windows were cracked and the dog was not in distress.

 

Criminal trespass

• A citizen asked officers to remove a homeless man from an alley near a business in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard at approximately 6 p.m. on June 19.

 

Juvenile problem

• A citizen reported his 14-year-old son was “being disrespectful and cussing at him” in the 1000 block of Northwest Prindle Street just before 7:30 p.m. on June 19 and asked if there were any resources he could utilize.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 200 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 7:35 p.m. on June 19.

• A citizen reported a Chehalis Police Officer driving without his vehicle’s lights on “came flying around the corner” and almost hit the citizen head-on in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street at 9:10 p.m. on June 19. A collision did not occur.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A man was reportedly threatening to assault a woman in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 10:45 p.m. on June 19.

• A disorderly client was reportedly threatening to “stab/shoot” people in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just after 7:05 a.m. on June 20.

 

Drug violation

• A juvenile was cited for possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street just after 12:35 a.m. on June 20.

 

Burglary

• A second-degree burglary reported in the 1300 block of Northwest State Avenue just before 5:05 a.m. on June 20 is under investigation.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Wednesday morning and Friday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 57 illness-related calls, 10 injury-related calls, nine fire-related calls, four non-emergency service calls, four vehicle accidents, three Lifeline medical alerts, two ambulance requests, one public assist request, one pregnancy-related call and three other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 118 inmates, including 105 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 82 were reported male and 23 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Friday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 13 inmates, including nine booked by the Centralia Police Department, three booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Tenino Police Department and one booked by the Lummi Nation.
