Vehicle Accidents

• A minor, non-injury collision was reported at the intersection of East Reynolds Avenue and North Pearl Street just after 1:05 p.m. on Dec. 21.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue just before 2:55 p.m. on Dec. 22.

 

Theft

• Sakoya L. Walker, 42, of Portland, Oregon, was arrested in the 1400 block of Lum Road just after 3:40 p.m. on Dec. 21 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly shoplifting $1,200 worth of merchandise from a local business. Additional charges including resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance were referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office. Walker was released from the jail on unsecured bail on Dec. 22.

• An unidentified male suspect reportedly stole $1,000 of merchandise from a business in the 100 block of West High Street just after 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 21.

• A case of shoplifting reported in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue at 4:55 p.m. on Dec. 21 is under investigation.

• A wallet containing two credit cards was reported stolen in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue at 8:05 a.m. on Dec. 22. The case is under investigation.

• A white 1993 Subaru Legacy was reported stolen from the 1000 block of H Street just after 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 22.

 

DUI

• Kyle D. Schmitt, 26, of Centralia, was arrested at the intersection of West Main and Yew streets at approximately 6:05 p.m. on Dec. 21 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged driving under the influence and failure to obey a police officer.

 

Drug Violation

• An Onalaska resident was cited for possession of meth in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue just before 11:20 p.m. on Dec. 21.

 

Malicious Mischief 

• Graffiti to a fence was reported in the 800 block of H Street just after 7:10 a.m. on Dec. 22.

• Vandalism/graffiti was reported on a residential garage in the 1000 block of J Street just after 7:15 p.m. on Dec. 22.

 

Criminal Impersonation

• A Camas resident was arrested in the 1300 block of Lum Road just after 12:15 p.m. on Dec. 22 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail on an outstanding warrant and for first-degree criminal impersonation after they allegedly gave an officer a false name and tried to flee on foot. The subject was captured a short distance away from where they fled.

Malicious Mischief

• Vandalism to park bathrooms was reported in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just before 8:50 a.m. on Dec. 22.

 

Harassment

• Just before 11:45 a.m. on Dec. 21, a victim in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street reported receiving a threatening email the day prior.

 

Theft

• A subject was cited for shoplifting in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just after 2:20 p.m. on Dec. 21.

 

Bad Checks

• A case involving unlawful issuance of bad checks that was reported in the 1300 block of South Market Boulevard just after 2:45 p.m. on Dec. 21 is under investigation.

 

Unattended Children

• Just before 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 21, a caller in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported two small children were crying while locked in a car in a business parking lot. The children’s mother went to the car after the police were called.

 

Dispute

• A family dispute was reported in the 1700 block of South Market Boulevard just before 9:05 p.m. on Dec. 21.

 

DUI

• A subject was arrested at the intersection of Southwest McFadden Avenue and Southwest Sixth Street just after 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 22.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Thursday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 140 inmates, including 126 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 101 were reported male and 25 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and two were reported female.
