Sirens: Defendants sentenced in Lewis County Superior Court; man stabs himself in the chest; $1,000 in stolen merchandise recovered

The following list is not comprehensive. Superior Court records can be accessed at the Lewis County Clerk’s Office in Chehalis.

Sentencings

• Justin E. Green, 33, Randle, was sentenced June 10 to 65 months in prison after pleading guilty to five counts of second-degree unlawful firearm possession and one count each of possession of a stolen firearm and unlawful possession of a short-barreled firearm. • Ralphe R. Manuma, 20, was sentenced June 16 to 13 years in prison and 18 months of community custody after pleading guilty to charges of first-degree robbery and custodial assault in a juvenile institution. Manuma pleaded guilty in a separate case to one count of possession of a controlled substance while in a state correctional facility. • Bryan Leonel Mauricio Correa, 20, Centralia, was sentenced June 17 to 146 months in prison and 18 months of community custody after pleading guilty to one count of vehicular homicide and three counts of vehicular assault. • Daniel Keough, 18, was sentenced June 17 to two years in prison and one year of community custody after making an Alford plea to one count of custodial assault in a juvenile institution. For previous Chronicle coverage, visit https://tinyurl.com/bdhmjry4. 

• Daniel J. Curtis, 39, Randle, was sentenced June 17 to 102 months in prison and three years of community custody after pleading guilty to three counts of second-degree child molestation and making Barr pleas to two counts of third-degree assault of a child.

• Rhonda K. Harper, 55, Packwood, was sentenced June 24 to 364 days in jail with 339 days suspended and 25 days of credit for time served after pleading guilty to one count of third-degree malicious mischief. • Kisa M. Harris, 33, Lakewood, was sentenced June 29 to 29 months in prison after pleading guilty to one count of attempting to elude a police vehicle and two counts of possession of a controlled substance while in a county or local correctional facility. • Michael McBride, 54, Chehalis, was sentenced June 29 to 51 months in prison after pleading guilty to one count of second-degree unlawful firearm possession.

• Chase J. Lenzi, 28, Rochester, was sentenced July 16 to 12 months and a day in prison with three days of credit for time served after pleading guilty to one count of first-degree theft and two counts of first-degree trafficking stolen property. According to court documents, Lenzi admitted to taking jewelry from a victim and then transferring it to a pawn shop.

• ​​Chad E. Armstrong, 37, Centralia, was sentenced July 22 to 43 months in prison and ordered to pay a total of $2,260 in restitution after pleading guilty to one count of accomplice theft of a motor vehicle.

• Alvaro Soto-Jassi, 22, Yelm, was sentenced July 22 to 14 months in prison and 18 months of community custody after pleading guilty to charges of vehicular assault and second-degree driving with a suspended license. For previous Chronicle coverage, visit https://tinyurl.com/ryzkcbap. 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Accidents

• Dennis A. Piper Jr., 62, Chehalis, was arrested and issued a criminal citation for allegedly having no valid operator’s license or identification after he was involved in a collision near the corner of South Gold Street and East Summa Street at about 11:09 p.m. Aug. 3.

Assault

• A juvenile was arrested and booked into Lewis County Juvenile Detention for fourth-degree assault after allegedly assaulting and injuring two household family members in the 300 block of South Diamond Street at about 2:16 p.m. Aug. 4.

Attempted suicide

• Officers investigated a reported suicide attempt in the 1500 block of Belmont Avenue at about 1:51 p.m. Aug. 4. According to police, a male individual stabbed himself in the chest with a knife. He received medical attention and is expected to live, police said.

Criminal trespass

• Don Gonzales, 37, Centralia, was issued a criminal citation for first-degree criminal trespass after he allegedly entered and remained unlawfully inside a business in the 400 block of East Summa Street at about 3:36 p.m. Aug. 3. Gonzales had previously been trespassed from the business, according to police.

Department assist

• Centralia officers and a Lewis County Sheriff’s Office deputy assisted the Chehalis Police Department in identifying and apprehending a suspect in the 1300 block of North Pearl Street at about 7:27 p.m. Aug. 3. Centralia officers wrote a search warrant that recovered $1,000 worth of product stolen from a home improvement store. Chehalis police have identified the suspect as  Jason L. Anderson, 52, of Centralia.

Drug paraphernalia



• Nathan Kloecker, 40, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for use/delivery of drug paraphernalia after police allegedly found him with assorted narcotics consumption devices near the corner of South Tower Avenue and East Chestnut Street at about 8:41 a.m. Aug. 4.

DUI

• Jerry L. Albaugh, 60, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for allegedly driving under the influence near the corner of East Summa Street and Kresky Avenue at about 8:32 p.m. Aug. 4. Officers reportedly discovered Albaugh had driven his vehicle off the roadway. Albaugh’s alleged behavior at the scene was consistent with drug use, police said.

Fire investigation

• Officers, detectives and the Riverside Fire Authority responded to and investigated a small brush fire adjacent to an apartment building in the 1100 block of Scammon Creek Road at about 12:58 a.m. Aug. 4. During the investigation, investigators determined the fire had been started by children with matches. Once the fire was extinguished, authorities confiscated the matches, alerted parents and spoke with the children.

Nuisance violation

• A 31-year-old Centralia man was issued a criminal citation for camping on city property (second offense) in the 100 block of East Cherry Street at about 2:42 p.m. Aug. 3.

• A 36-year-old Centralia man was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for allegedly camping on city property (second offense) near the corner of South Tower Avenue and East Chestnut Street at about 8:41 a.m. Aug. 4.

Physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence

• Brady P. Carroll, 39, Centralia, was arrested in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 10:55 p.m. Aug. 3. and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

• John W. Quisenberry, 65, Centralia, was arrested near the corner of West Walnut Street and South Iron Street at about 6:39 p.m. Aug. 4 and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence.

Theft

• Police investigated a report of organized retail theft with special circumstances in the 600 block of Harrison Avenue at about 3:42 p.m. Aug. 3 after a suspect stole product from a local business and exited out of the fire escape emergency door. The case is under investigation.

• Officers received a report of theft from a local business in the 100 block of West High Street at about 12:47 p.m. Aug. 4.

Vehicle prowl

• A laptop, air compressor and vehicle title were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 100 block of West High Street at about 9:04 p.m. Aug. 4. Police said the suspect shattered the window to access the items while the vehicle was parked in a lot.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Gary W. Thompson, 50, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged theft of motor vehicle, second-degree burglary and first-degree criminal trespass in the 2100 block of North National Avenue at about 5:31 p.m. Aug. 2.

• Jason L. Anderson, 52, Centralia, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged second-degree theft in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at about 7:27 p.m. Aug. 3. According to court documents, Anderson and an accomplice allegedly stole over $1,000 worth of items from The Hope Depot store.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Aug. 3, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 151 inmates, including 137 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 110 were reported male and 27 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and three were reported female.

• As of Aug. 5, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 20 inmates. Of those, six were from Centralia and seven were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there were two from the Lummi Nation and one each from the Quileute Nation, the Shoalwater Bay Tribe, the Skokomish Tribe, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Chehalis Tribe.
