Sirens: Defendants sentenced in superior court; arrests for narcotics; local jail statistics

Sentencings

• Griffin L. Russell Sr., 33, Chehalis, was sentenced July 8 to one year and a day in prison after pleading guilty to charges of residential burglary and violation of a protection order.

• Robert E. Brunn, 47, Chehalis, was sentenced July 8 to 19 months in prison and 19 months of community custody as part of a prison-based drug offender sentencing alternative after pleading guilty to charges of second-degree burglary and first-degree trafficking in stolen property. • Dustin D. Watts, 39, Vancouver, was sentenced July 15 to five years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of second-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree theft and one count of second-degree trafficking in stolen property.  For previous Chronicle coverage, visit https://tinyurl.com/3r6nszj2. 

• Mason U. Trujillo, 24, Centralia, was sentenced July 17 to seven years in prison and three years of community custody and ordered to pay $4,000 in fees and fines after making Alford pleas to the following charges: one count of first-degree possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct; three counts of second-degree possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct; and one count of communication with a minor for immoral purposes. • Joshua L. Malchow, 40, Centralia, was sentenced July 22 to 90 months in prison and 18 months of community custody after pleading guilty to one count of vehicular homicide. Additional charges were dismissed. For previous Chronicle coverage, visit https://tinyurl.com/2n6h98pz. 

• Darrin R. Noble, 49, Pe Ell, was sentenced July 22 to 20 months in prison and 12 months of community custody after pleading guilty to one count of delivery of cocaine. • Bryan A. Hampton, 44, Portland, was sentenced July 29 to three years in prison after pleading guilty to one count each of first-degree unlawful firearm possession, attempting to elude a police vehicle, driving under the influence, third-degree theft and hit-and-run of an attended vehicle. • Harley L. Dunfee, 32, Vancouver, was sentenced July 31 to one year and a day in prison after pleading guilty to charges of attempting to elude a police vehicle and hit-and-run of an attended vehicle. For previous Chronicle coverage, visit https://tinyurl.com/3srrrjvk. 

• Thomas D. Sorensen, 62, Port Orchard, was sentenced Aug. 5 to 63 months in prison and ordered to pay $461.65 in fees and fines after pleading guilty to felony DUI and violation of ignition interlock device. For previous Chronicle coverage, visit https://tinyurl.com/mpe9pme2. 

Preliminary appearances

• Jacob D.L. Johnston, 28, Vader, made a preliminary appearance Aug. 5 for one count of unlawful imprisonment (domestic violence) after he allegedly locked the front door and prevented his partner from leaving the home. A judge set bail at $25,000 cash or bond and issued a no-contact order on behalf of the alleged victim.

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Joshua E. Blankenship, 37, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail on multiple Centralia Municipal Court warrants and charges of alleged unlawful possession of a controlled substance and use/delivery of drug paraphernalia in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue at about 3:35 p.m. Aug. 5.

Assault

• An alleged assault was investigated in the 1300 block of North Pearl Street at about 8:59 p.m. Aug. 5.



Protection order violation

• Tosha R. Auzston, 35, Centralia, was referred for charges in the 1100 block of Scammon Creek Road at about 4:43 p.m. Aug. 6 after allegedly coming within 100 feet of an individual who has an anti-harassment order against Auzston.

• Fernando E. Mendoza, 41, Auburn, was referred for charges in the 900 block of E Street at about 6:16 p.m. Aug. 6 after allegedly contacting an individual who has a no-contact order against Mendoza.

Theft

• A female suspect attempted to steal press-on fingernails from a store in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue at about 9:27 a.m. Aug. 5. No additional information was available at the time.

• A juvenile was referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office for theft charges in the 200 block of West Oakview Avenue at about 11:45 a.m. Aug. 5. Police said the possible charges were related to a stolen dirt bike.

• Michael J. Anderson, 35, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for third-degree theft after he allegedly stole a flashlight from a store in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 12:40 p.m. Aug. 5.

• A pair of jumper cables was reported stolen in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue at about 7:26 p.m. Aug. 5.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests and citations

• Marco A. Villalba Gonzalez, 34, was issued a criminal citation and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged possession of drug paraphernalia in the 1500 block of South Market Boulevard at about 8 p.m. Aug. 4. Villalba Gonzalez was also cited for alleged third-degree driving with a suspended license.

• David M. Whittington, 54, was issued a criminal citation and booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence near the corner of Jackson Highway and Wallace Road at about 9:05 a.m. Aug. 5.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Aug. 7, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 151 inmates, including 138 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 110 were reported male and 28 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Aug. 7, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 21 inmates. Of those, six were from Centralia and seven were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there were two from the Lummi Nation, two from the Skokomish Tribe,  and one each from the Quileute Nation, the Shoalwater Bay Tribe, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Chehalis Tribe.
