Sirens: Disorderly Conduct; Unlawful Weapon Display; Vicious Dog

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Suspicious Circumstances

• Officers were dispatched to a report of a homeless man “walking around a parking lot, carrying a hammer and talking to himself” in the 1100 block of View Avenue just before 7:10 a.m. on April 5. 

• Officers were dispatched to a report of a “group of teens going door to door,” one of whom “was carrying a stick,” in the 2100 block of North Tower Avenue at 11:20 a.m. on April 5. When officers arrived, they “found a blind man and his family inviting people to go to church.” 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A man, who the reporting party identified as homeless, reportedly “defecated in the street” in the 1000 block of Eckerson Avenue just after noon on April 5. He left the scene before officers arrived. 

• A “intoxicated, disorderly transient male” was reported in the 1200 block of Alder Street just before 7:35 p.m. on April 5. 

• A “disorderly adult transient male” was trespassed from a property in the 1300 block of South Gold Street at approximately 8:50 p.m. on April 5. 

• A man, who the reporting party identified as homeless, was reportedly harassing customers at a business in the 1200 block of Mellen Street just before 6:55 p.m. on April 6. 

Welfare Check 

• Officers were asked to check on the welfare of an apparently homeless man sleeping at the entrance to a park in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue at approximately 8:15 a.m. on April 6. “He was fine,” officers noted. 

Theft 

• A Milwaukee battery was reported stolen from a hardware store in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue just after 1:10 p.m. on April 5. 

• A Chehalis woman was arrested in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 4:05 p.m. on April 6 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly shoplifting from a grocery store she was trespassed from. 

• A theft from a business in the 1000 block of North Pearl Street reported at 12:05 p.m. on April 6 is under investigation. 

• An unknown suspect in a red Mercedes was reportedly seen stealing mail in the 900 block of Allen Avenue at approximately 12:20 p.m. on April 6.  The driver fled when police attempted to stop him. He was last seen getting onto the freeway heading northbound at a high rate of speed, according to the Centralia Police Department. 

Vehicle Accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported on private property in the 1300 block of South Gold Street just after 3:45 p.m. on March 5. 

• A vehicle reportedly crashed into a residential garage in the 1100 block of Alexander Street at 1:40 a.m. on April 7. The vehicle reportedly went off the roadway, through a residential garage, then collided with another unoccupied building located on a neighboring property, according to the Centralia Police Department. No injuries were reported. Two male suspects reportedly fled on foot before officers arrived. 

• A non-injury, single-vehicle collision was reported on private property in the 900 block of Ellsbury Street at 2:55 a.m. on April 7. 

Malicious Mischief 

• Graffiti was reported on a residential garage in the 1000 block of North Tower Avenue just before 3:55 p.m. on April 5. 

• Graffiti was reported on private property in the 1200 block of Mellen Street just after 9:50 a.m. on April 6. 

• Graffiti was reported in the 1200 block of Mellen Street just after 9:50 a.m. on April 6. 



Officers received a report of two males tagging a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue with graffiti just after 5:35 p.m. on April 6.  Officers located two juvenile males, one of which reportedly admitted to the tagging. Both juveniles were trespassed from the business.

Assault 

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 600 block of South Silver Street at 10:25 p.m. on April 6 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A disorderly man was reportedly “yelling and cursing” inside a business in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 8:40 a.m. on April 5. 

• A subject was reportedly “harassing customers” at a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 9:10 a.m. on April 5.  

• A man with a hammer was reportedly threatening employees and customers at a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 10 a.m. on April 5. 

• A subject who was reportedly refusing to leave a property in the 600 block of West Main Street was trespassed from the property just after 2:50 p.m. on April 5. 

• A disorderly man was reportedly “causing a scene” and “flipping people off” in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 5:30 p.m. on April 5. 

Theft 

• A vehicle was reported stolen from the 1500 block of North National Avenue at 10:50 a.m. on April 5. 

• A case of shoplifting was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 6:10 p.m. on April 5. 

Unlawful Weapon Display 

• A juvenile girl reportedly threatened other children with a knife at a playground in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just before 6:35 p.m. on April 5. 

Possible Break-in 

• Just before 7:50 p.m. on April 5, a caller reported the door to a school bus and the door to the bus’ back motor were open at the bus lot, located at the intersection of Northeast Kresky Avenue and Northeast Median Street. Nothing appeared to have been taken or broken. 

Vicious Dog 

• A report of a vicious dog made in the 1500 block of North National Avenue at 11:25 p.m. on April 5 is under investigation. 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 146 inmates, including 131 in the general population and 15 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 103 were reported male and 28 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and three were reported female.
