CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal trespass 

• A man and a woman were trespassed from a property in the 500 block of North Pearl Street just after 9:10 p.m. on July 31 for plugging an extension cord into a building that was not theirs. 

• Homeless people were reportedly trespassing on property in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue just before 2:05 p.m. on July 31. 

• A Tenino woman accused of stealing a donut from a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue was trespassed from the property just before 7:05 p.m. on July 31.  

• A Renton resident was trespassed from private property in the 800 block of North Pearl Street just after 11:50 p.m. on July 31 after he reportedly showed up at a residence “thinking he was going to an after hours party.” 

• A Winlock man was trespassed from a business in the 100 block of South Silver Street at 11:55 p.m. on Aug. 1 after he allegedly stole from the business, fled and then returned. 

 

Theft 

• Just before 11 a.m. on July 31, a woman in the 1300 block of St. Helens Street reported some of her prescription medication missing and believed it was taken by her friend who allegedly admitted to taking the medication. The victim did not want to pursue charges at the time of the report.

• A white 2001 Nissan Altima was reported stolen from the 1200 block of Alder Street just before 1:20 p.m. on July 31. The victim reported “he was helping a friend work on another car and when he turned around he saw his car driving off,” according to the Centralia Police Department The vehicle was stopped just after 3:35 p.m. on July 31 after the driver allegedly fled from a store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue with $500-worth of shoplifted groceries. The driver, a 33-year-old Centralia man, was cited for shoplifting but the victim did not want to press vehicle theft charges once the vehicle was recovered. 

• A case of third-degree theft reported at a business in the 100 block of West High Street at approximately 1:25 p.m. on Aug. 1 is under investigation. 

• Merchandise was reported stolen from a business in the 500 block of HarrisonA Avenue at 4 p.m. on Aug. 1. The case is under investigation. 

• Deli items were reported stolen from a store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 4:45 p.m. on Aug. 1. 

• A debit card was reported stolen from the 2000 block of Borst Avenue just after 5:10 p.m. on Aug. 1. The stolen card was reportedly used at a local business. This case is still under investigation.

• At 8:50 p.m. on Aug. 1, a license plate was reported lost or stolen from the 100 block of South Silver Street within the past 24 hours.

 

Forgery 

• A counterfeit $100 bill was reportedly passed at a business in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue just after 5:30 p.m. on July 31. 

• A case of forgery reported at a business in the 200 block of West Reynolds Avenue just before 6:20 p.m. on July 31 is under investigation. 

 

Hit-and-run 

• A hit-and-run reported in the 600 block of West Pear Street just after 2:30 p.m. on July 31 is under investigation. 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A vehicle reportedly crashed into a garbage can in the 100 block of West Maple Street just after 5:10 p.m. on July 31.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1700 block of Harrison Avenue at 12:45 p.m. on Aug. 1. 

 

DUI 

• Michael W. Burkett, 48, of Centralia, was arrested in the 200 block of North Tower Avenue at approximately 11:20 p.m. on July 31 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol.

 

Assault 

• A case of fourth-degree assault was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 1:20 p.m. on Aug 1. An unidentified suspect reportedly asked the victim for a ride, was told no, and assaulted the victim. 

 

Drug violation  

• A 62-year-old Centralia man was cited for possession of meth in the 100 block of West Maple Street just before 4:50 p.m. on Aug. 1 after he reportedly removed items from his pockets and accidentally removed a baggie of meth. 

 

Burglary 



• A burglary to a vacant residence in the 1000 block of J Street was reported at 10:20 p.m. on Aug. 1 after the reporting party discovered damage to a window screen and found small items had been stolen from inside the house.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Assault 

• A 51-year-old Chehalis woman was arrested in the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place just after 7:50 a.m. on July 31 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree assault and third-degree assault after she allegedly threw items over the counter at a business, shattering a framed picture, and struck an arresting officer. She was charged in Lewis County Superior Court on Tuesday and her case is on hold pending a competency evaluation. 

• At approximately 11:55 a.m. on July 31, a caller reported he was punched in the face in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue the day prior. 

 

Theft 

• Just before 8:50 a.m. on July 31, a theft that occurred in the 2000 block of Jackson Highway sometime over the weekend was reported. 

• A case of third-degree theft reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue at 11:30 a.m. on July 31 is under investigation. 

• A vehicle prowl was reported in the 10 block of Southwest McFadden Avenue just after 2:40 a.m. on Aug. 2. 

• A case of first-degree theft reported in the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place at 6:10 p.m. on Aug. 2 is under investigation. 

 

Suspicious Circumstances 

• Just before 9:50 a.m. on July 31, a caller reported a male knocked on the door to their residence in the 400 block of Northeast Adams Avenue at 8:30 a.m. on July 27, “flashed a business card and said he was a private investigator” and said he was looking for someone who wasn’t there. 

• At 9:25 p.m. on July 31, a caller reported a male juvenile looked like he was trying to get into a baseball stadium in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street. 

• Just after 9:55 p.m. on July 31, a caller reported a suspect went into a storage facility in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue through a door “they shouldn’t be going into.” 

• Just before 10:35 p.m. on July 31, a caller in the 10 block of Southwest Second Street reported there was an unknown subject on his back porch. 

• At 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 1, a caller reported there was a suspicious Black male in a neighbor’s yard in the 1600 block of Southeast Aust Manor Drive. The officer noted that the caller “was getting mad that I was asking questions” and didn’t verify his address or his neighbor’s, just saying “the Black guy doesn’t belong there.” 

• A “younger guy” was reportedly pushing a lawnmower with a bicycle on top down the roadway in the 500 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Aug. 1. 

 

Missing vehicle 

• At approximately 3:10 p.m. on July 31, a caller in the 400 block of Southwest 15th Street reported her “baby daddy” took her vehicle without her permission while possibly under the influence of alcohol. 

 

Dispute 

• A physical dispute was reported at the intersection of Southwest McFadden Avenue and Southwest First Street just after 8:25 p.m. on July 31. 

 

Harassment 

• A case of harassment was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 10:25 p.m. on July 31. The victim was advised to obtain a protection order. 

• A report of a tenant in the 300 block of Southeast Third Street being harassed by a previous tenant was made just after 11 a.m. on Aug. 1. 

 

Drug violation 

• A subject was cited for possession of meth during a traffic stop at the intersection of Southwest McFadden Avenue and Southwest 13th Street at approximately 3 a.m. on Aug. 1. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 153 inmates, including 140 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 108 were reported male and 32 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
