CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• Medications were reported stolen from the 300 block of Yew Street just after 8:45 a.m. on Nov. 4.

• A vehicle that was rented from the 500 block of East Summa Street almost two months ago was reported stolen at 11:10 a.m. on Nov. 4. The investigating officer was able to locate the suspect in Oregon, who allegedly had medical issues preventing them from returning the car. The case is under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A debit card theft reported in the 400 block of Centralia College Boulevard just before 7:45 p.m. on Nov. 5 is under investigation.

• A suspect described as a man in his 30s wearing a red and blue hat that covered his ears, a blue jacket and a mask reportedly stole a cart full of groceries from a business in the 400 block of East Summa Street just before 8:35 a.m. on Nov. 6.

• A newspaper was reported stolen from the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at 4 p.m. on Nov. 6. A suspect is under investigation.

• Over $750 worth of clothing was reported stolen from an outlet in the 1400 block of Lum Road just after 7 p.m. on Nov. 6. Two unidentified suspects reportedly fled in a gray pickup.

• Food items were reported stolen from a grocery store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 8:55 p.m. on Nov. 6.

 

Scam

• At 9:25 a.m. on Nov. 4, a business in the 1900 block of Johnson Road reported it was scammed out of a large sum of money by individuals posing as insurance inspectors and one of the managers. The scammers reportedly had the victims deposit money using a Bitcoin machine at another local business to pay supposed fines, according to the Centralia Police Department. “It is unknown who these people are,” the department stated in a news release. “As a reminder to citizens, always verify the people calling you are really who they say they are when it comes to giving information over the phone, especially when they are seeking money.”

 

Malicious Mischief

• A Centralia woman was cited for third-degree malicious mischief at 10:15 a.m. on Nov. 4 for allegedly kicking a door to a business in the 200 block of West Main Street, causing damage.

 

Vehicle Accidents

• Two people sustained minor injuries from a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of West Main and South Cedar streets just after 3 p.m. on Nov. 4. One person was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision that blocked the roadway was reported at the intersection of West Summa Street and South Tower Avenue just after 4:15 p.m. on Nov. 4. One vehicle reportedly failed to yield right of way to another vehicle, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• An inattentive driver reportedly struck a parked vehicle and ran into a yard, striking a fence, in the 1500 block of Johnson Road just before 4 p.m. on Nov. 5. No injuries were reported.

• A non-injury, single-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Lum Road and West Reynolds Avenue just after 12:15 a.m. on Nov. 6.

• Minor injuries were reported from a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of South Tower Avenue and West Plum Street at 7 a.m. on Nov. 7. The at-fault driver was issued a citation.

 

Trespassed From Property

• A man was trespassed from a business in the 100 block of South Silver Street at 5:20 p.m. on Nov. 4 for reportedly “being drunk and disorderly and refusing to leave when asked by staff.”

• A man found sleeping in the foyer of a business in the 200 block of Centralia College Boulevard just after 8:40 a.m. on Nov. 5 was trespassed from the property after he reportedly refused to leave when asked to by staff.

• A man was trespassed from a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Nov. 5.

 

DUI

• Desiderio Ramirez-Cruz, 50, of Centralia was arrested just before 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 4 after he crashed the pickup he was driving into a concrete pillar at the intersection of South Tower Avenue and Jefferson Street. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence, third-degree driving with a suspended license and driving without an ignition interlock device.

• Jose R. Salas Verdugo, 22 of Rochester was arrested at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and West First Street just after 2:10 a.m. on Nov. 5 and was booked into Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence after officers stopped him for numerous traffic violations and determined he was under the influence of intoxicants, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Jacob W. Kiehl, 43, of Olympia, was arrested in the 1300 block of Delaware Avenue at 10:50 p.m. on Nov. 5 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence after officers located him driving an SUV on the north/south railroad tracks. Kiehl was reportedly “not sure how he got there,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

Assault

• A fourth-degree domestic violence assault reported in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue just after 7:55 p.m. on Nov. 4 is under investigation.

• A second-hand report of an assault made at 10:35 a.m. on Nov. 5 is under investigation. The victim was reportedly punched in the left cheek while seated in a vehicle at the intersection of Tilley Avenue and Lewis Street. The victim was reportedly able to flee in his vehicle.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Malicious Mischief

• Broken windows were reported in the 2100 block of North National Avenue just after 8:40 a.m. on Nov. 4.

 

Suspicious Circumstances

• A man reportedly made threats, saying “I just don’t know what I’m capable of,” to cashiers at a business in the 300 block of Northwest North Street at 11:15 a.m. on Nov. 4.

• At approximately 5:15 a.m. on Nov. 6, a resident in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street reported someone was outside her apartment trying to open the front door. The 911 call disconnected several times. At approximately 6:20 a.m., the resident reported the suspect was at her back door with a gun. Officers arrived just before 6:40 a.m., at which time the resident was in her vehicle parked outside her residence. A suspect was not located and no arrests were made.

• A baby was reportedly left alone in a car seat in a vehicle in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 11:10 a.m. on Nov. 6.

 

Disputes

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 2200 block of Jackson Highway just before 9:20 a.m. on Nov. 4.

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 11:05 a.m. on Nov. 4.

• A physical dispute where the five subjects involved were “picking up and throwing rocks” was reported in the 500 block of Northwest Pacific Avenue at 1 a.m. on Nov. 5. No arrests were made.

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 100 block of Melhart Road just after 4:40 p.m. on Nov. 5.

 

Assault



• A man who reportedly took off his clothes, banged his head on a glass door, kicked a customer and then threw up inside a business in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was arrested just before 11:10 a.m. on Nov. 6 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault.

 

Trespassed From Property

• A man was trespassed from a property in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 1:05 p.m. on Nov. 4.

• A disorderly woman was trespassed from a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 9 p.m. on Nov. 4.

• A man who was reportedly throwing trash outside of a business in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 7:40 a.m. on Nov. 6. He was trespassed from the property.

 

Counterfeit Money

• A counterfeit bill was reported in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 2:35 p.m. on Nov. 4.

 

Vehicle Accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Jackson Highway and Wallace Road at 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 4.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Northeast Kresky Avenue and Northeast Median Street at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 5.

• A pedestrian reported an injury to her left leg from a vehicle versus pedestrian crash in a parking lot in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 10:35 p.m. on Nov. 5.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A woman was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for hit-and-run after allegedly striking a vehicle at the intersection of Northwest Pacific Avenue and Northwest Boistfort Street just before 11:35 a.m. on Nov. 5. The suspect was reportedly driving a yellow school bus as her personal vehicle. She fled into Centralia, where she was stopped by officers with the Centralia Police Department in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue and was arrested by a Chehalis police officer.

 

Theft

• A vehicle prowl was reported in the 10 block of Southwest 10th Street at 6:20 p.m. on Nov. 5.

 

Shooting Complaint

• Callers in the area surrounding the 1500 block of South Market Boulevard reported hearing three four gunshots just after 6:25 p.m. on Nov. 6. The shots reportedly came from a vehicle driving through the area.

 

Death Investigation

• A natural death reported in the 10 block of Southwest Fourth Street at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Nov. 6 is under investigation.

 

 

MORTON POLICE DEPARTMENT

Morton Incidents

• An officer was dispatched to the Morton School District at 3:45 p.m. on Oct. 24 for a report that someone drilled holes into a truck fuel tank on the east side of the school building. The investigation is still active.

• An officer was dispatched to Gust Backstrom Park just after 8:35 p.m. on Oct. 24 for a report of a car parked in the parking lot almost all day. The officer contacted the car’s occupant, who reported they were “just there to rest because the individual was tired.”

• An officer was dispatched to the Chevron Gas Plus regarding a suspicious phone call just after 2:05 p.m. on Oct. 25.

• An officer received a report of reckless driving near the 100 block of Westlake Avenue just after 5:05 p.m. on Oct. 26. The officer contacted the owner of the vehicle, who stated that it was her son who was driving the vehicle and said she would speak with her son regarding the issue.

• An officer performed a traffic stop on Second Street at 7:50 a.m. on Oct. 28. The driver received a warning for speed.

• An officer observed a driver going the wrong direction on Bingaman Drive at 2:35 p.m. on Oct. 28. The officer issued the driver a warning.

 

Mossyrock Incidents

• An officer was dispatched to a suspicious circumstances complaint in the 700 block of William Street at 1:35 p.m. on Oct. 24. Upon arrival, the officer was unable to contact the reporting party, but still searched the area for any suspicious activity. The officer found nothing out of the ordinary and resumed regular patrol.

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street for a suspicious circumstances complaint just before 9:15 a.m. on Oct. 25. The officer found nothing out of the ordinary and resumed regular patrol.

• An officer was dispatched to a possible burglary at the 300 block of Laurel Street at 1:55 p.m. on Oct. 25. When the officer arrived, the reporting party stated that someone broke into their house. The investigation is pending further information.

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street for a suspicious circumstance complaint at 10:45 p.m. on Oct. 25.  The officer found nothing out of the ordinary and resumed regular patrol.

• An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Williams Street for a suspicious circumstances complaint just after 1:50 p.m. on Oct. 29. The officer spoke with the reporting party, who was found to have an active warrant for her arrest and was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

 

Pe Ell Incidents

• An officer was dispatched to a report of a horse at large at the corner of California and Kelso streets at 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 26. After the horse was returned to its property, the officer contacted the property owner and issued a warning.

• An officer was dispatched to a report of a runaway juvenile just before 7:20 p.m. on Oct. 26. The juvenile was later found and returned home safe.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 179 inmates, including 165 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 129 were reported male and 36 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and two were reported female.
