Sirens: Graffiti found on church; Woman booked for DUI after crash; Teens 'drinking, smoking weed and doing acid'

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Malicious mischief

• Graffiti was reported on the outside wall of a church in the 300 block of North Tower Avenue just after 9:55 a.m. on March 25.

 

Counterfeiting

• A counterfeit $100 bill was reported at a store in the 400 block of North Tower Avenue just after 1:55 p.m. on March 25. The case is under investigation.

 

Theft

• A “full bag of goods” was reported stolen from a store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 3:05 p.m. on March 25. The suspect fled on southbound Interstate 5 in a white Toyota. The case is under investigation.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• Citizens reported a suspicious person lying next to the road outside the entrance to a park at the intersection of East Locust Street and South Barner Drive at approximately 7 a.m. on March 26. Officers responded and contacted a 52-year-old homeless woman, who told officers “she just left the shelter and was waiting for the park to open.”

 

Assault

• A 36-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 600 block of North Gold Street just before 8:40 p.m. on March 26 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

 

Criminal trespass

• A Washougal resident was trespassed from a business in the 1200 block of Alder Street at approximately 4:35 p.m. on March 27.

• A Tacoma resident was trespassed from a business in the 1100 block of Grand Avenue just after 6 a.m. on March 27.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run reported at the Exit 76 on-ramp to Interstate 5 at approximately 12:55 p.m. on March 25 is under investigation.

 

DUI

• A woman was arrested in the 300 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue just before 1:40 p.m. on March 26 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for DUI after she crashed her vehicle into a deli’s van and fled the scene.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• Two suspicious subjects were reportedly “exchanging clothes and digging stuff out of a backpack” in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just before 3:15 p.m. on March 25.

• A woman was reportedly “yelling she lost her cat from her truck” in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard at approximately 3:45 p.m. on March 25.

• Two subjects were reportedly “knocking on everyone’s door” and “appeared (like) they were trying to sell something” in the 1500 block of Southwest Grandview Avenue at 5:05 p.m. on March 25.



• At 4:35 p.m. on March 26, two citizens reported that they thought their runaway stepdaughter and other juveniles were “drinking, smoking weed and doing acid” at a residence in the 10 block of Southwest Phillips Court. Officers checked the residence and found no one inside. The reporting parties “made threats to come to the house” and “screamed at” the officer handling the call.

 

Drug violation

• A subject was arrested for possession of meth at the intersection of Southwest Riverside Drive and state Route 6 just after 12:35 a.m. on March 26.

 

Sexual misconduct

• A case of sexual misconduct reported in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard just after 7:05 a.m. on March 26 is under investigation.

 

Theft

• Two subjects were arrested for shoplifting in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 10:55 a.m. on March 26.

• A vehicle prowl was reported in the 1500 block of North National Avenue at approximately 7:15 a.m. on March 27. The vehicle’s door was “pried open” and the gas cap had been removed.

 

Fraud

• A case of “non-specific fraud” reported in the 400 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue at 12:35 p.m. on March 26 is under investigation.

 

Dispute

• A possible physical dispute was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 2:30 a.m. on March 27.

 

Noise complaints

• “Yelling and banging” was reportedly coming from a vehicle parked in the 700 block of Northwest State Avenue at 9:10 p.m. on March 26.

• A woman was reportedly “screaming and banging stuff” inside a vehicle parked near the intersection of Northwest Front and Northwest Park streets just after 10:35 p.m. on March 26.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Monday morning and Wednesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 33 illness-related calls, eight injury-related calls, two fire-related calls, three vehicle accidents, four non-emergency service calls, one suicide-related call and four other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 171 inmates, including 157 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 126 were reported male and 31 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 25 inmates, including seven booked by the Centralia Police Department, 11 booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Tenino Police Department, two booked by the Lummi Nation, one booked by Chehalis Tribal Law Enforcement, three two booked by Chehalis Tribal Court.
