Sirens: Homeless man found burglarizing restaurant; Man assaults woman, 5-year-old; Male seen 'tweaking' and 'dancing in the street'

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Runaway juvenile

• A runaway juvenile female was reported in the 1400 block of West Reynolds Avenue just after 10 a.m. on Oct. 27. 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 300 block of North Tower Avenue at 10:40 a.m. on Oct. 27. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 4:35 p.m. on Oct. 27. 

 

Disorderly conduct 

• A disorderly subject was reported at a business in the 1200 block of South Gold Street just before 10:55 a.m. on Oct. 27. 

 

Malicious mischief 

• Damage to vehicle tires was reported in the 1000 block of Woodland Avenue just after 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 27.

• Damage to vehicle tires was reported in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue at 10:55 p.m. on Oct. 27. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• A disorderly homeless person was trespassed from the 100 block of North Gold Street just before 9:50 p.m. on Oct. 27. 

 

Burglary 

• As of Saturday morning, officers were looking for a 22-year-old homeless man from Centralia who is the suspect in a burglary of a restaurant in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue that was reported just after 7 a.m. on Oct. 28. An employee had arrived at the restaurant to find the suspect was still in the building. The suspect fled out the back door when the employee confronted him. The employee found a window to the business had been broken, food was eaten and “a small amount of coins may have been taken,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Assault 

• Just after 9:20 a.m. on Oct. 27, an assault that took place in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street about a week prior was reported. 

• Just before 6:15 p.m. on Oct. 27, a caller in the 600 block of Northwest Quincy Place reported “she had been assaulted and needed somewhere to live.” 

• A male subject reportedly assaulted a woman and a 5-year-old child in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court at 6:40 p.m. on Oct. 29. The suspect fled the scene. Fourth-degree assault charges were referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office. 

 

Harassment 

• Harassment was reported in the 10 block of North Market Boulevard just after 9:25 a.m. on Oct. 27. No threats were reported and the reporting party was advised to get an anti-harassment order. 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A possible vehicle accident was reported in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard just after 10:35 a.m. on Oct. 27. 

• A non-injury, non-blocking, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of North National Avenue and Northeast Coal Creek Road just before 11:25 a.m. on Oct. 27. 

• A non-injury, non-blocking, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 500 block of West Main Street at 11:40 a.m. on Oct. 29. 

 

Hit-and-run 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way at 11:20 a.m. on Oct. 27. 

 

Indecent exposure 

• A “homeless-looking female walking around with her pants down” was moved along from the 100 block of South Market Boulevard just before 10:45 a.m. on Oct. 27. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• A male subject who was reportedly going through a business’s dumpster in the 600 block of Northwest State Avenue just before 11:10 a.m. on Oct. 27 was trespassed from the business. 

• A woman was reportedly trespassing in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 2 p.m. on Oct. 27. 

• At least one subject was reportedly trespassing at a duplex in the 600 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue just before 4:25 p.m. on Oct. 27. 



• A subject was reportedly trespassing on railroad tracks underneath the Interstate 5 overpass in Chehalis just after 5:55 p.m. on Oct. 27. 

• A male subject reportedly “threatened to pull a gun” on a resident who asked him and the group of people he was with to leave his property in the 500 block of Northeast Adams Avenue just before 2:35 a.m. on Oct. 28. The reporting party did not want to press charges. 

• A subject was cited for criminal trespass following an argument in the 600 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue just after 4:45 p.m. on Oct. 28. 

• A homeless man was reportedly sleeping under the stairs of a property in the 600 block of Northwest Center Street just before 5:35 p.m. on Oct. 28. 

• A homeless man who “had his pants down and (was) being aggressive” at a business in the 1700 block of North National Avenue was trespassed from the property just after 6:50 p.m. on Oct. 28. 

 

Disputes 

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 2100 block of North National Avenue just before 11:25 a.m. on Oct. 27. 

• A civil dispute regarding bugs in a room in the 500 block of Southwest Parkland Drive was reported just before 11:15 a.m. on Oct. 29. 

• A homeless man was reportedly arguing with a customer in a drive thru in the 200 block of West Main Street at approximately 2:25 p.m. on Oct. 29. 

• A physical dispute between an adult and a juvenile was reported in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just after 5:35 p.m. on Oct. 29. 

 

Suspicious circumstances

• Six subjects were reportedly “doing drugs” at a basketball court in the 300 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just before 1:50 p.m. on Oct. 27. 

• A male subject was reportedly “tweaking” and “dancing in the street” in the 300 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at approximately 3:50 p.m. on Oct. 27. 

• Just after 6:10 p.m. on Oct. 27, a caller reported “a large group of crackheads in the parking lot” in the 700 block of South Market Boulevard. 

• A subject was reportedly digging through a business’s dumpster in the 400 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue just after 6:25 p.m. on Oct. 27. 

• A possible stolen vehicle was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 27. 

• A male subject was reportedly “swinging around a metal thing” in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 9:05 p.m. on Oct. 27. The caller reported it “looks like he pulled a knife out of the bushes.” 

• At 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 28, a caller reported she looked through her home’s security camera and saw an unidentified male subject in her carport “taking all his clothes off.” He left the carport a few minutes later. 

• Just after 2:05 a.m. on Oct. 29, a 75-year-old woman reported seeing an unidentified male and an unidentified female in her apartment in the 300 block of Southeast Washington Avenue. The two subjects reportedly disappeared a few minutes later. The woman called back about two hours later to report the subjects were back and were stealing from her. She called back again an hour later to report she had fallen and needed aid. 

• Subjects were reportedly looking into bushes with flashlights in the 1500 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue at approximately 6:50 p.m. on Oct. 29. 

• Two “suspicious-looking men” were reportedly going in and out of a business’s sheds in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 8:35 p.m. on Oct. 29. 

 

Vehicle prowl 

• A purse was reported missing out of a vehicle in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 2:40 p.m. on Oct. 27. 

 

Theft 

• A bike was reported stolen from the 600 block of Southwest 20th Street at 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 28. 

• A subject was cited for shoplifting in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 7:15 p.m. on Oct. 28.  

 

Robbery 

• An unidentified male subject reportedly walked into a business in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 4:10 a.m. on Oct. 28, “started grabbing money out of the till” and stole “a little over $150” before fleeing the business. The subject did not appear to have a weapon. 

 

Malicious mischief 

• Damage to an apartment window was reported in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street at 5:10 p.m. on Oct. 27. The reporting party stated the “tenant said the window was shot from the outside about an hour ago but evidence shows that it was shot from the inside.” 

 

Burglary 

• An attempted burglary was reported in the 200 block of Southeast Adams Avenue at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Oct. 29. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 141 inmates, including 129 in the general population and 12 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 103 were reported male and 26 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and one was reported female.
