CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Hit-and-Run 

  A hit-and-run was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 3:15 p.m. on Dec. 30. No injuries were reported. 

 

Vehicle Accident 

• A minor, non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1200 block of Belmont Avenue just after 11:40 a.m. on Jan. 1. 

 

DUI 

• Richard W. Zahd, 36, of Tacoma, was arrested in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue at 7:25 a.m. on Dec. 31 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence and hit-and-run to attended property. 

 

Indecent Liberties 

• John M. Gallivan, 40, of Chehalis, was arrested in the 1000 block of Scammon Creek Road at approximately 3:40 a.m. on Jan. 1 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for felony indecent liberties after allegedly “pinning a woman down in her bed while licking her face,” according to the Centralia Police Department. He also faces charges of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license. 

 

Theft 

  Two stolen chain saws were recovered in the 300 block of South Silver Street at 11:50 p.m. on Dec. 30. The case is under investigation. 

• A male suspect reportedly stole a laser level from a business in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue and fled in a “dark-colored pickup with a canopy” just after 3:50 p.m. on Dec. 30. The case is under investigation. 

• At 5 p.m. on Dec. 30, a resident reported their vehicle was prowled in the 900 block of F Street sometime overnight. The resident noted their garage was vandalized by graffiti a couple nights prior. 



• A white 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 with plywood in the back window was reported stolen from the 1100 block of South Pearl Street at 11:50 p.m. on Dec. 30. 

  A case of shoplifting was reported in the 1300 block of Lum Road at 5:20 p.m. on Dec. 31. 

• Beer and other items were reported stolen from a grocery store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 4:25 p.m. on Jan. 1. 

 

Assault 

• A fourth-degree assault was reported in the 1400 block of Johnson Road just after 9:45 p.m. on Dec. 31. The victim did not wish to pursue charges. 

 

Malicious Mischief 

• “Gang-style graffiti” was reported on a building in the 1000 block of F Street just before 10:25 p.m. on Dec. 30. 

 

Trespassing 

• A Centralia woman was cited for trespassing at the intersection of South Tower Avenue and Centralia College Boulevard just after 12:45 p.m. on Jan. 1 after officers responded to reports of “a woman sitting in the middle of the railroad tracks with her cat in a crate,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

• Just before 11:45 p.m. on Jan. 1, there was a report of a man who “hid” in a business in the 100 block of North Tower Avenue “to try and sleep overnight,” per the Centralia Police Department.
