Sirens: Juveniles drink alcohol, smash bottle, uproot tree; indecent exposure reported; man arrested after dispute

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Drug violations

• At approximately 8:25 p.m. on June 14, officers received two independent reports about three boys who were drinking alcohol, smashed a liquor bottle in the roadway and uprooted a small tree in a residential yard in the 200 block of North Oak Street. The boys reportedly attempted to run from police, but were soon located. Two of the three boys were arrested and booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for minor in possession/consumption of alcohol.

• A 51-year-old Centralia man was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for possession of meth at the intersection of North Gold Street and Ham Hill Road just after 5:40 a.m. on June 17.

 

Theft

•An Apple iPhone 15 was reported stolen out of a parked vehicle in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 10:25 a.m. on June 15.

• At 1:05 p.m. on June 15, officers responded to the report of a male trespassing inside a closed motel that is being renovated in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue. Officers located the man, 52 of Centralia, inside the building with a large duffle bag containing various tools. The duffle bag also contained copper tubing and four air conditioner condensers from the motel. The man was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree theft.

• A portable toilet was reported stolen from the 2000 block of Borst Avenue at approximately 10:20 a.m. on June 16.

 

Indecent exposure

• A homeless man from Illinois was warned for indecent exposure in the 900 block of Old Airport Way just after 9:15 p.m. on June 15.

• Officers responded to a complaint about a 27-year-old Centralia man masturbating in public at the intersection of South Tower Avenue and East Chestnut Street just after 8:30 a.m. on June 16. “While that complaint was unable to be proven, (the man) lied to officers about his name and was arrested,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

DUI

• A 32-year-old Centralia man was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Goodrich Road just after 6:55 a.m. on June 16.

 

Traffic violation

• A 32-year-old Portland man was arrested for failure to obey a police officer after he allegedly refused to stop for an officer attempting to pull him over for a registration violation at the intersection of South Gold and East Summa streets at 12:15 p.m. on June 16. The man continued driving for five miles until he was intercepted and blocked by another police vehicle.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Disorderly conduct

• A woman was reportedly removing election signs at the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way just after 10:55 a.m. on June 13.

 



Criminal trespass

• A man who was reportedly carrying a boombox, playing “loud, ‘offensive’ music” and yelling at an employee of a business in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 1:20 p.m. on June 13 was trespassed from the business.

 

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Southwest William and Southwest McFadden avenues just before 3:45 p.m. on June 13 is under investigation.

 

Hit-and-run

• At approximately 7:25 p.m. on June 13, a hit-and-run that occurred in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard the day prior was reported.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• A man was reportedly carrying a screaming child by the neck in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 4:40 p.m. on June 13.

 

Assault

• A third-degree assault was reported at Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street at approximately 4:45 p.m. on June 13.

• At 6:10 p.m. on June 13, a Green Hill School employee reported a juvenile assaulted her at the detention center in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street.

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Friday morning and Monday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 53 illness-related calls, 19 injury-related calls, eight fire-related calls, five non-emergency service calls, eight vehicle accidents, four Lifeline medical alerts, one 911 hangup call, one rescue and two other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 125 inmates, including 112 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 85 were reported male and 27 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 15 inmates, including 10 booked by the Centralia Police Department, two booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Lummi Nation, one booked by the Tenino Police Department and one booked by Chehalis Tribal Law Enforcement.
