Sirens: Males record customers at bank; Counterfeit cash discovered; Person takes cat, won't give it back

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Disorderly conduct 

• A disorderly male was reportedly “yelling and screaming” inside a building in the 500 block of Centralia College Boulevard at 7:55 a.m. on Oct. 16. Officers asked the man to leave the property. 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A blocking, non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of North Scheuber Road and Borst Avenue at 9:25 a.m. on Oct. 16. 

• A blocking, non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of West Main Street and North King Street just before 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 16. 

• A blocking, non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of West First Street and Harrison Avenue just after 11:20 a.m. on Oct. 16. 

• Possible injuries were reported following a two-vehicle collision that blocked the roadway at the intersection of South Cedar and West Pear streets at noon on Oct. 16. The at-fault driver was issued an infraction for driving without a driver’s license. 

• A non-injury, non-blocking, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 2:55 p.m. on Oct. 16. 

• Injuries were reported following a three-vehicle collision in the 700 block of West Pear Street at 7:50 a.m. on Oct. 17. The at-fault driver was issued an infraction. 

• Just before 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 17, a collision that occurred at the intersection of Harrison and Belmont avenues the day prior was reported. 

 

Hit-and-run 

• A hit-and-run was reported at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Johnson Road just after 12:35 p.m. on Oct. 17. The juvenile suspect has since been issued infractions for hit-and-run, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and driving without a valid driver’s license. 

 

Assault 

• A 25-year-old Rochester woman was cited for fourth-degree assault just after 10:40 a.m. on Oct. 16 after she allegedly pushed an employee at a school in the 900 block of West Pear Street. 

 

Theft 

• At 2:50 p.m. on Oct. 16, a vehicle that had been parked in a public parking lot in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue for the last two weeks was reported stolen. 

• Medication was reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 10:10 p.m. on Oct. 16. 

• A wallet was reported stolen from the 300 block of Lowe Street at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 17. 

• A bicycle was reported stolen from the 100 block of West Maple Street just after 1:05 p.m. on Oct. 17. The bike has since been located. 

 

Identity theft 

• A 41-year-old Olympia man was arrested on multiple felony warrants in the 700 block of West Pear Street at 7:50 a.m. on Oct. 17. The man allegedly gave officers his brother’s name at a traffic stop to avoid arrest. “The Lewis County Jail wouldn’t take him, so the officer had to drive him to Thurston County, where he was booked into their jail,” the Centralia Police Department stated. He is being referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office for identity theft charges.

 

Counterfeiting 

• A bank in the 200 block of West Main Street reported receiving a counterfeit check for deposit just after 11:20 a.m. on Oct. 17. The case is under investigation. 

 

Malicious mischief 

• Damage to a vehicle was reported in the 700 block of Pioneer Way just before 3:25 p.m. on Oct. 17. 

 

Burglary 

• A burglary to a vacant building reported in the 800 block of West Main Street just before 4:40 p.m. on Oct. 17 is under investigation. 

 

Traffic problem 

• Just after 6:05 p.m. on Oct. 17, officers received a request for extra patrols in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue throughout the day. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Sexual misconduct 

• A case of “sexual misconduct” reported in the 2600 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue just after 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 16 is under investigation. At least one subject has been arrested and released or referred on charges. 

 

Suspicious circumstances 



• Two male subjects were reportedly filming customers and employees at a bank in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard just after 12:20 p.m. on Oct. 16. The subjects did not enter the bank but could “hear all the bank info being said.” The subjects stayed on public property, but the reporting party asked officers to trespass the subjects from bank property. Another caller reported the two males were filming the same bank just before 12:45 p.m. the same day. 

• Male subjects were reportedly taking pictures of vehicle license plates in the 300 block of Northwest Park Street at 12:55 p.m. on Oct. 16. Officers confirmed they were the same subjects who were filming the bank and no crimes had occurred. 

• Two male subjects in flagger vests were reportedly walking through a neighborhood in the 300 block of Southeast Valley View Way at 1:15 p.m. on Oct. 17 handing out pamphlets. 

• Three subjects were reportedly “smoking out of tin foil” in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 2:25 p.m. on Oct. 17. 

• A male subject was reportedly “selling and doing drugs” in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 5:55 p.m. on Oct. 17. 

• Just after 3 a.m. on Oct. 18, a caller in the 300 block of Southeast Washington Avenue reported a “shadowy figure” who was “slick at picking locks” was standing in her room. A responding officer confirmed the building was secure. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• A homeless man whose “pants (were) down” was moved along from the front door of a business in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 12:25 p.m. on Oct. 16. 

• Occupants of a motorhome parked on a property in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue were trespassed at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Oct. 17. The occupants reportedly had several dogs who were “being aggressive towards (a) customer.” The motorhome was towed. 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• Minor injuries were reported following a two-vehicle collision in the 200 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 12:50 p.m. on Oct. 16. 

• Just before 2:20 p.m. on Oct. 17, a non-injury, two-vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of West Main Street and Northwest State Avenue the day prior was reported. 

 

Assault 

• A woman who reportedly “attacked a client in the salon” in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just before 1 p.m. on Oct. 16 was cited for fourth-degree assault. 

• At 6 p.m. on Oct. 16, an assault that occurred in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue about 20 minutes prior was reported.  

• A group of seven or eight juveniles reportedly assaulted another juvenile in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 6:05 p.m. on Oct. 17. 

 

Theft 

• Just after 1:05 p.m. on Oct. 16, a caller in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue reported “someone (is) taking her cat and not giving it back.” The caller “has already reported this on multiple occasions,” according to the Chehalis Police Department. 

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just before 12:20 p.m. on Oct. 17 is under investigation. 

• Items were reported stolen from the 1300 block of Southwest McFadden Avenue at 2:15 p.m. on Oct. 17. 

• A subject was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for attempting to steal clothing and socks from a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 5:10 p.m. on Oct. 17. 

 

Counterfeiting 

• Counterfeit cash was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 8:15 p.m. on Oct. 16. The reporting party said she “was given cash by someone that owed her money” and she tried to use the money at a business. 

 

Dispute 

• A physical dispute was reported in the 300 block of Northwest North Street just after 8:55 a.m. on Oct. 17. 

 

Harassment 

• A case of harassment reported in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street just after 11:45 a.m. on Oct. 17 is under investigation. 

 

Malicious mischief 

• Third-degree malicious mischief reported in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way at 1 p.m. on Oct. 17 is under investigation. 

• Third-degree malicious mischief reported in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way just after 1:25 p.m. on Oct. 17 is under investigation. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 140 inmates, including 127 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 98 were reported male and 29 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
