CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Arrests
• Anthony J. Benoit, 21, Kansas, was arrested in the 500 block of North Iron Street at about 1:14 a.m. Feb. 14 after allegedly pointing a firearm at another person during an argument. Police reported no injuries and recovered the firearm.
• Santiaguito Cruz-Sanchez, 29, Honduras, was arrested near the corner of Harrison Avenue and West High Street at about 1:44 p.m. Feb. 14 after allegedly colliding with another vehicle and then fleeing the scene in his vehicle. The victim reportedly followed Cruz-Sanchez, who eventually pulled over. According to police, Cruz-Sanchez was “physically held down after trying to leave again” until their arrival. An investigation allegedly concluded that Cruz-Sanchez was driving while under the influence of alcohol and did not possess a valid driver’s license. Cruz-Sanchez also reportedly had misdemeanor warrants from other counties for DUI and fourth-degree assault domestic violence.
• Christopher J. Draskovich, 38, Centralia, was arrested near the corner of Hickory Street and Field Avenue at about 8:21 p.m. Feb. 14 and booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly soliciting a 15-year-old juvenile for sexual favors and kissing the juvenile.
• Sharhonda R. Whitfield, 46, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly stealing items from a local business in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 8:52 p.m. Feb. 14.
• Shannon M. Elder, 38, Rochester, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree theft after allegedly stealing a nail file from a store in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 4:02 p.m. Feb. 15. Staff reportedly detained Shannon and recovered the item.
Accidents
• A two-vehicle collision with a minor injury complaint was reported near the corner of Lum Road and West Reynolds Avenue at about 12:59 p.m. Feb. 15.
Assault
• A juvenile was arrested in the 1000 block of North Washington Avenue at about 12:55 p.m. Feb. 15 and booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for fourth-degree assault domestic violence and third-degree malicious mischief domestic violence after he allegedly assaulted a family member and caused property damage during a dispute.
• Autumn Smith, 38, Centralia, was arrested and released in the 1400 block of Johnson Road at about 6:48 p.m. Feb. 15 for fourth-degree assault after allegedly punching her neighbor in the arm.
Criminal trespass
• Officers trespassed a transient male from a property in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue at about 4:45 a.m. Feb. 15 after receiving a report that the male was acting suspiciously near a business. The male allegedly told officers he intended to start a fire in some nearby brush. Officers told him he would be arrested if he attempted to do so.
• Adrian Gillespie, 53, Centralia, was referred to the Centralia Municipal Court for second-degree criminal trespass in the 200 block of East Cherry Street at about 5:45 p.m. Feb. 15 after he allegedly entered and remained unlawfully on property from which he was previously trespassed.
DUI
• Julia E. Petuhova, 32, California, was arrested in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 12:41 p.m. Feb. 14 after police allegedly found her in physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
• Rakayla B. Vega, 36, Centralia, was arrested in the 1100 block of North Tower Avenue at about 2:33 a.m. Feb. 15 and booked into the Lewis County Jail after police conducted a traffic stop and allegedly found her to be driving under the influence.
Fraud
• Unauthorized activity on a bank account was reported in the 2800 block of Van Dyke Drive at about 1:04 p.m. Feb. 14. The case is under investigation.
Illegal burn
• Andrew M. Draper, 35, Centralia, was arrested in the 1000 block of North Washington Avenue at about 3:44 p.m. Feb. 13 after it was reported he had a fire in his yard in close proximity to a building. Upon arrival, officers determined Draper had been warned the night prior for having the same type of fire in the same location and had been provided the laws for when and where he could have a fire. Officers allegedly observed an uncontained fire approximately 5 feet from a building causing visible smoke damage to the building and cited Draper for reckless burning.
Loitering for drug-related activity
• Trevor Craig, 26, and Aaron Henning, 36, both of Centralia, were arrested and released for allegedly loitering for drug-related activity in the 100 block of East Pine Street at about 12:16 a.m. Feb. 16. Craig was also charged with use or delivery of drug paraphernalia after he was allegedly found with a glass narcotics smoking pipe upon his arrest.
Theft
• Two juveniles were arrested at a local business in the 1000 block of South Yew Street at about 6:51 p.m. Feb. 15. One was booked into Lewis County Juvenile for third-degree theft after allegedly shoplifting, while the other was released to a parent and referred to Lewis County Juvenile Court for first-degree criminal trespass after allegedly entering and remaining unlawfully in a property from which they had previously been trespassed.
CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT
Arrests
• Jerry Nixon was arrested in the 900 block of South Market Boulevard at about 6:33 p.m. Feb. 12 and booked into jail for alleged crimes including third-degree assault, escape, interfering with a health care facility and resisting arrest.
Theft
• Benjamin Huntley was issued a citation for alleged third-degree theft in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at about 3:47 p.m. Feb. 12.
JAIL STATISTICS
• As of Feb. 13, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 166 inmates, including 153 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 122 were reported male and 31 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
• As of Feb. 16, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 10 inmates. Of those, two were from Centralia and four were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there was one each from the Skokomish Tribe, the Suquamish Tribe, the Tulalip Tribe and the Chehalis Tribe.
