Sirens: Man arrested for locking woman in bus, assaulting her; Man sustains serious injuries in altercation; Person arrested for threatening a drive-by shooting

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Child abuse 

• A second-hand report of possible child abuse was made in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street just before 9 a.m. on Nov. 17. 

 

Juvenile problems  

• Just after 2:55 p.m. on Nov. 17, a caller in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street reported their “son has been bullied every day and (his) school is doing nothing about it.” The caller was advised to contact the school resource officer and to call back “in the event nothing changes.” 

• At 5:15 p.m. on Nov. 17, a caller reported a “group of eight kids (was) trying to start a fight” with the caller’s 17-year-old son in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street. 

 

Hit-and-run 

• At 3:35 p.m. on Nov. 17, a hit-and-run that occurred in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 4 p.m. the day prior was reported. 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 600 block of West Main Street at 11:25 a.m. on Nov. 20. 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A vehicle reportedly hit a female pedestrian’s shopping cart in a parking lot in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 4 p.m. on Nov. 17. The pedestrian, who was in her 60s, was “not injured but (was) shaken up,” according to the Chehalis Police Department. 

• A 70-year-old male pedestrian was transported to the hospital with serious injuries after he was hit by a vehicle in the crosswalk at the intersection of South Market Boulevard and Southwest 11th Street just before 2:15 p.m. on Nov. 18. The collision reportedly blocked traffic on 11th Street. 

• A motorhome reportedly hit an unoccupied parked car in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 12:10 p.m. on Nov. 20. No injuries were reported. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 2 p.m. on Nov. 20. The collision reportedly occurred at 12:30 p.m. that day. 

• A non-injury, multiple-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 2:15 p.m. on Nov. 20. The driver of a Honda Odyssey reportedly pulled into a parking lot and “punched the gas,” hitting three other vehicles. One pedestrian reported the Honda almost hit her. 

 

Missing phone 

• A cellphone was reported missing in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way just after 8:40 p.m. on Nov. 17. The phone’s location was reportedly “moving with (a) lady on a bike.” Officers contacted the woman on the bicycle, who reported she found the phone on the ground. The phone’s owner said “she probably dropped it” and did not wish to pursue charges. The phone was returned to its owner. 

 

Theft 

• A vehicle theft reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at 11:15 p.m. on Nov. 17 is under investigation. 

• Liquor was reported stolen from a store in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard just after 6:10 p.m. on Nov. 18. 

 

Suspicious circumstances 

• A suspicious male subject “with a bunch of sticks” was reportedly on the Exit 77 overpass in the 800 block of state Route 6 at 5:05 p.m. on Nov. 18. 

• At 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 19, a caller reported a suspicious vehicle was following her in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard. 

• At approximately 8:20 p.m. on Nov. 19, a caller reported finding a suspicious object in the 400 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue. The object was described as “bags wrapped around something that looks like a possible dead animal.” 

• At approximately 9:25 p.m. on Nov. 19, a caller reported a suspicious person was knocking on the door to his RV in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue. 

 

Assault 

• Officers responded to a report of a 37-year-old Chehalis woman threatening suicide and threatening a man with a knife in the 10 block of Southwest William Avenue at approximately 5:50 p.m. on Nov. 18. The woman allegedly “lunged at (the male) with a pocket knife in a stabbing motion” after he intervened in a possible suicide attempt, according to court documents. She was arrested in the 10 block of Southwest William Avenue and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for domestic violence second-degree assault. Bail is set at $25,000. 

• Domestic violence fourth-degree assault charges against a 40-year-old male subject were referred to a local prosecutor’s office after the suspect allegedly stepped on a woman’s neck in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 19 and fled the scene. 

• A domestic violence fourth-degree assault was reported in the 300 block of Southwest third Street just after 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 19. 

Dispute 

• A physical dispute between two male subjects with “no shirts on” was reported at the intersection of Northwest Quincy Place and West Main Street just before 8:20 a.m. on Nov. 19. No injuries were reported. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• A woman with a pocket knife was reportedly trespassing in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at 9:15 a.m. on Nov. 19. The reporting party asked officers to conduct a welfare check on the woman, who advised she “is not suicidal” and “wants her cat back.” 



• A homeless person was reportedly sleeping outside a post office in the 200 block of Northwest Cascade Avenue just before 9 p.m. on Nov. 20. 

 

Sexual misconduct 

• A case of sexual misconduct reported in the 1400 block of Southwest Grandview Avenue at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 19 is under investigation. 

 

Unlawful imprisonment 

• Officers responded to a report of unlawful imprisonment in the 1200 block of Northwest Cedar Way just after 4:05 p.m. on Nov 20. The victim reported a 60-year-old male subject had picked her up from a shelter three days prior, locked her inside a broken-down Greyhound bus and sexually assaulted her. The victim reportedly called 911 after “the male told her to call the police and stepped outside.” He was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21 in Lewis County Superior Court. 

 

Malicious mischief 

• A subject was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree malicious mischief after they allegedly smashed the window to a vehicle in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 6:50 p.m. on Nov. 19. 

• A case of first-degree malicious mischief reported in the 100 block of Northwest Pacific Avenue just before 8:25 a.m. on Nov. 20 is under investigation. 

 

Burglary 

• A burglary reported in the 2100 block of Northwest National Avenue at 11:05 a.m. on Nov. 20 is under investigation. 

 

Unlawful possession 

• At 12:45 p.m. on Nov. 20, a male subject was arrested in the 700 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for unlawful possession of a firearm after he allegedly threatened “to do a drive-by” to someone’s residence. The suspect also reportedly made similar threats in Thurston County. 

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal trespass 

• A Puyallup man was trespassed from a business in the 300 block of Harrison Avenue just before 8:35 a.m. on Nov. 20 after he reportedly tried to park heavy equipment in a private parking lot and “became confrontational” with the owner. 

 

Hit-and-run 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road just after 4:10 p.m. on Nov. 20. 

 

Burglary 

• A burglary to a business in the 300 block of West Reynolds Avenue reported just before 4:20 p.m. on Nov. 20 is under investigation. 

 

Theft 

• A 37-year-old California man was cited for third-degree theft in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 9:10 p.m. on Nov. 20 after he allegedly ordered food at a restaurant and failed to pay for it.  

 

Assault 

• A man sustained serious injuries in an altercation with another man in the 200 block of East Chestnut Street just after 11:10 p.m. on Nov. 20. The assailant allegedly struck the victim with an object. During the investigation, detectives learned “the victim may have assaulted the male suspect earlier at another location,” according to the Centralia Police Department. The case is under investigation. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Tuesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 152 inmates, including 139 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 114 were reported male and 25 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and one was reported female.
