Sirens: Man brandishes knife, flees in vehicle; two stolen guns recovered; arrest made after 6-year-old assaulted

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle accident

• Possible minor injuries were reported following a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision at the intersection of West Magnolia and North Pearl streets at approximately 2:05 p.m. on June 28. Witnesses at the scene said a vehicle struck a stroller with a small child inside. The child was evaluated at the scene.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 600 block of South Gold Street just after 9:55 a.m. on June 30.

 

Criminal trespass

• A 45-year-old Texas man was trespassed from two businesses in the 2300 block of North Pearl Street at 6:50 p.m. on June 28.

 

Assault

• A 21-year-old Centralia man was arrested for third-degree assault after he allegedly assaulted an officer who responded to a fight in the 3000 block of Borst Avenue just after 3:40 a.m. on June 29.

• A 28-year-old Centralia man was arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence in the 2500 block of North Pearl Street at 7:55 p.m. on June 29.

 

Stolen property

• Centralia detectives recovered two stolen guns in the 1200 block of Johnson Road just after 11:45 a.m. on June 29. The guns were reported stolen out of Lewis County.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• Officers were dispatched to an anonymous report of a firearm being drawn in the 1700 block of South Gold Street at 11 p.m. on June 29. Officers searched the area but were unable to find a suspect. Witnesses on scene were unaware of an incident occurring.

• A potential assault was reported in a vehicle in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 9:30 p.m. on June 30. Officers determined no crime had occurred.

• A possible dispute involving a weapon was reported in the 800 block of West First Street at approximately 10:20 p.m. on June 30. Officers determined no weapon was involved and no crime had occurred.

• A potential dispute was reported in the 900 block of Johnson Road at 10:40 p.m. on June 30. Officers found two juveniles in the area and transported them home to their families.

 

Theft

• A black 2007 Ford truck was reported stolen from the 1900 block of Harrison Avenue just before noon on June 30. The vehicle was later recovered in Tacoma.

• A backpack was reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 1300 block of Lum Road just after 2:35 p.m. on June 30.

• Shoplifting was reported at a business in the 1300 block of Lum Road just after 3:05 p.m. on June 30.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A 39-year-old Centralia man was cited for disorderly conduct in the 500 block of North Pearl Street just before 5:30 p.m. on June 30.

Criminal trespass

• Subjects were trespassed from a business in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just before 7:35 a.m. on June 28.

• A subject on BNSF tracks near  Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way was trespassed from the tracks at approximately 12:05 p.m. on June 28.

 

Vehicle accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 1:55 p.m. on June 28.

• A vehicle crashed into metal stripping near a gas pmp in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 3:25 p.m. on June 28. No injuries were reported.

  A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1700 block of North National Avenue just before 10:40 a.m. on  June 30.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A juvenile was acting disorderly in the 700 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue just after 5:40 p.m. on June 28.

• A man was screaming at passing cars in the 700 block of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way just after 1 p.m. on June 29.

• A man was cursing and yelling outside a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 7:15 p.m. on June 30.

 

Assault

• A subject was arrested for third-degree assault of a child after a restaurant in the 1400 block of Northwest Airport Road reported a child abuse incident just before 7:45 p.m. on June 28.

• A man reportedly threw a 6-year-old into a door in the 600 block of Southwest 20th Street just before 1:40 p.m. on June 29. He was arrested for fourth-degree assault.

 

Recovered vehicle

• Just after 6 p.m. on June 29, a citizen reported a man got out of his truck outside her residence in the 300 block of Southwest McFadden Avenue, displayed a knife, and fled in a vehicle when she said she was calling the police. He was later arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle.

 

Vicious dog

• Two loose dogs reportedly attacked another dog being walked  in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just after 8:40 p.m. on June 30.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 129 inmates, including 116 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 92 were reported male and 24 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 18 inmates, including 11 booked by the Centralia Police Department, five booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Skokomish Tribe and one booked by the Lummi Nation.
