Sirens: Man jailed for unlawful imprisonment; DUI suspect rolls vehicle; Woman says someone is 'trying to frame her for drugs and weapons'

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• A theft reported in the 300 block of North Gold Street just before 10:25 a.m. on March 27 is under investigation.

• Just before 1:45 p.m. on March 27, property was reported stolen from an outlet store in the 100 block of West High Street the day prior.

• A tire was reportedly stolen off of a small trailer in the 1200 block of Alder Street at approximately 7:50 p.m. on March 27.

• Beer was reported stolen from a business in the 1200 block of Mellen Street at 10 p.m. on March 27. The suspect, 28, of Centralia, was located a few blocks away. He was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail on an unrelated Chehalis Municipal Court warrant and was cited for third-degree theft. The stolen beer was recovered.

• A man reportedly stole several bottles of alcohol from a business in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue at 6:30 p.m. on March 28 and fled the scene in a vehicle. The case is under investigation.

 

Assault

• An assault reported at an elementary school in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 12:35 p.m. on March 27 is under investigation.

• An assault reported at Centralia Middle School in the 900 block of Johnson Road at approximately 2:25 p.m. on March 28 is under investigation.

• A physical dispute involving a woman who was “punching and kicking” a man was reported in the 200 block of West Magnolia Street just before 7:15 p.m. on March 28. The woman, 37, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

 

Malicious mischief

• Just after 4:25 p.m. on March 27, there was a report that a tree had been cut down on city property in the 700 block of East Locust Street. The case is under investigation.

 

Criminal trespass

• A 28-year-old Centralia woman was cited for second-degree trespass in the 300 block of Courtland Street at 6 p.m. on March 27.

• A man who was “bothering customers and appeared to be on drugs” was trespassed from a business in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue at the business’ request just after 11:05 p.m. on March 27.

• A 35-year-old Chehalis man was arrested in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 1 a.m. on March 28 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for second-degree criminal trespass.

• A homeless woman from Chehalis was trespassed from a business in the 100 block of West Magnolia Street just after 8:10 a.m. on March 28.

• A 64-year-old Centralia man was cited for second-degree criminal trespass in the 1600 block of Reynolds Avenue at approximately 1:55 p.m. on March 28.

• A disorderly woman was trespassed from a  business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 3:05 p.m. on March 28.

• A juvenile accused of shoplifting from a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 3:05 p.m. on March 28 was trespassed from the business.

 

Unlawful imprisonment

• Police were dispatched to a dispute involving “a female screaming for help out of a vehicle” at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Floral Street just after 6:30 p.m. on March 27.  Officers arrived on scene and located both parties, who had already separated. Philip S. Pedersen, 51 of Mossyrock, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for domestic violence unlawful imprisonment and domestic violence fourth-degree assault. He was charged in Lewis County Superior Court on March 28. Bail is set at $50,000 and arraignment is scheduled for April 11. The woman, 53, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for an outstanding Lewis County District Court warrant and for knowingly possessing a controlled substance.

 

Drug violation

• A 46-year-old Centralia woman was arrested on an outstanding Centralia Municipal Court warrant during a traffic stop in the 1100 block of North Pearl Street at approximately 2 p.m. on March 28.  When asked, the woman allegedly admitted to having meth and fentanyl on her person. Additional narcotics were located during a search of the vehicle.  The driver, a 61-year-old Centralia man, was arrested for unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and two counts delivery of a controlled substance, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.  He  was subsequently released at Providence Centralia Hospital for a pre-existing medical condition and will be referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office. The woman was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail on her outstanding warrant.

 

DUI

• A vehicle attempted to elude police after the officer conducted a traffic stop for suspicion of DUI in the 200 block of Downing Road just after 8:55 p.m. on March 27. The officer pursued the vehicle, which  fled north on Highway 507 toward Bucoda. The suspect vehicle went off the roadway and rolled on its side after entering Thurston County. The driver, Gabriel J. Harris, 19 of Napavine, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for attempting to elude police and DUI. He was charged in Lewis County Superior Court on March 28. Bail is set at $10,000. Arraignment is scheduled for April 11.



 

Department assist

• While on proactive patrol in the 700 block of East Locust Street at 9:55 p.m. on March 28, an officer contacted an adult female who was “incoherent due to alcohol consumption.” American Medical Response personnel transported the female to Providence Centralia Hospital for medical care.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Suspicious circumstances

• Just before 7:50 a.m. on March 27, a citizen in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street reported he “thinks a relative of a school teacher followed him from the school and to his house and back.”

• Just before 3:15 p.m. on March 27, a citizen in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported a “suspicious male subject associated with a white, fancy Jeep” was “trying to get (him) out of his vehicle by offering gold.” The citizen referred to the subject by an ethnic slur and said “it appears to be a ‘whole operation.’”

• Just before 5:25 p.m. on March 27, a citizen in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street reported “she is being retaliated against” and said people were “trying to frame her for drugs and weapons.” Officers contacted a mobile crisis unit.

 

Malicious mischief

• A case of second-degree malicious mischief reported in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just after 6:20 p.m. on March 27 is under investigation.

 

Theft

• Clothes were reported stolen from a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 7:05 p.m. on March 27. The suspect was arrested.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A customer at a business in the 600 block of West Main Street was reportedly “screaming” at an employee who “wouldn’t give him a refund” just after 8:20 p.m. on March 27.

 

Dispute

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at 12:10 a.m. on March 28.

 

Vehicle accident

• A vehicle accident with injuries reported in the 2000 block of Southwest Salsbury Avenue just after 7:25 a.m. on March 28 is under investigation.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Wednesday morning and Friday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 38 illness-related calls, nine injury-related calls, four fire-related calls, one vehicle accident, three non-emergency service calls, one overdose, one Lifeline medical alert, one ambulance request, two 911 hangup calls and one other call.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 155 inmates, including 141 in the general population and 14 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 111 were reported male and 30 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 25 inmates, including 11 booked by the Centralia Police Department, nine booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the City of McCleary, two booked by the Lummi Nation, two booked by Chehalis Tribal Court.
