Sirens: Man Runs Toward Helicopter at Airport; Hit-and-Run Driver Hits Stop Signs, Mailboxes

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Theft 

• Band equipment was reported stolen from the 800 block of Field Avenue just after 11:45 a.m. on Nov. 16. 

• A jacket was reported stolen from the 1500 block of Lum Road just after 2:10 p.m. on Nov. 16. The suspect reportedly left the scene as a passenger in a silver vehicle. 

• A Centralia woman was cited for stealing a cellphone in the 100 block of Lilac Lane just before 11:15 p.m. on Nov. 16. 

 

DUI 

• Keith A. Palm, 33, of Centralia, was arrested in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 5:15 a.m. on Nov. 17 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly being in physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of narcotics. 

 

Assault 

• A Centralia woman was cited for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, in the 600 block of South Gold Street at approximately 7:05 a.m. on Nov. 17. 

 

Dispute 

• A physical dispute between a male and a female that was reported in the 100 block of South Silver Street just after 7:20 a.m. on Nov. 17 is under investigation. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Theft 

• A catalytic converter was reported stolen off of a church vehicle in the 1800 block of South Market Boulevard just after 9:45 a.m. on Nov. 16. 

• Between three and five jackets were reported stolen from a business in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard just after 2:35 p.m. on Nov. 16. When an employee attempted to make contact with the suspect, “she screamed and took off,” according to call logs. 

 

Vehicle Theft and Recovery

• A vehicle theft reported in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard at 8:20 p.m. on Nov. 16 is under investigation. 

• A stolen vehicle was recovered in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just after 12:05 p.m. on Nov. 17. 

 



Trespassed From Property

• An “aggressive client” at a facility in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue who “acted as if he was going to punch staff” was trespassed from the property just after 12:10 p.m. on Nov. 16. 

• A male and a female were trespassed from a business in the 1700 block of North National Avenue at approximately 5:25 p.m. on Nov. 16. 

• A criminal trespass case was reported in the 1300 block of Northwest State Avenue just before 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 16. 

• A man was reportedly “running up and down the air strip” and “running towards a helicopter that was landing” at the Chehalis-Centralia Airport just after 2:25 p.m. on Nov. 17. The subject was reportedly yelling at the helicopter and “making hand signals” at the helicopter in an attempt to communicate with it. He was trespassed from the property. 

 

Assault 

• A fourth-degree assault was reported in the 300 block of West Main Street at 12:40 p.m. on Nov. 16. 

 

Burglary 

• A subject was arrested in the 100 block of Southeast Interstate Avenue at approximately 8:15 a.m. on Nov. 17 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree burglary after he allegedly broke into a residence in the 100 block of Southeast Interstate Avenue. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A truck reportedly hit at least nine signs along Adams Avenue between the First Street and 11th Street intersections, hit an additional sign and several mailboxes in the 500 block of Southeast Prospect Street, and fled the scene. The incident was reported just after 9:45 p.m. on Nov. 16. 

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 6:40 p.m. on Nov. 17. 

• A vehicle accident with reported injuries that occurred in the 1000 block of Northwest State Avenue just before 5:25 a.m. on Nov. 18 is under investigation. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 144 inmates, including 129 in the general population and 15 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 103 were reported male and 26 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 13 were reported male and two were reported female.
