CHEHALIS SCHOOL DISTRICT
• W.F. West High School initiated a modified lockdown at 9:24 a.m. Oct. 7 while police and school staff responded to a student in crisis. “The modified lockdown was initiated to ensure no students were in the hallways or outside the building while the situation was resolved,” the Chehalis School District said in a statement after the incident. According to the district, neither students nor staff were under an active threat during the incident. Officials lifted the modified lockdown at 9:45 a.m. and the school resumed normal operations. “We appreciate the timely response of our staff, students and law enforcement,” the district said.
LEWIS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
• Daniel R. Galland, 64, Ashford, was arrested Oct. 3 after he allegedly pointed a gun at a driver whom he believed was speeding in his neighborhood. Galland made a preliminary appearance in Lewis County Superior Court on Oct. 5 for one count of second-degree assault. A judge set bail at $10,000 cash or bond and scheduled an arraignment for Oct. 8.
• Andrew J. Webb, 45, Portland, made a preliminary appearance in Lewis County Superior Court on Oct. 5 for one count of custodial assault after he allegedly spit in the face of a corrections deputy at the Lewis County Jail. A judge set bail at $10,000 cash or bond and scheduled an arraignment for Oct. 8.
CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Arrests
• Jeremy Sturdevant, 44, Chehalis, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road at about 9:39 a.m. Oct. 5. Police allegedly found Sturdevant in possession of multiple different narcotics, money and drug paraphernalia used in the sale of narcotics.
Accidents
• Officers responded to a motor vehicle collision with no injuries in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue at about 11:59 a.m. Oct. 5.
Assault
• Officers responded to a reported assault with a stick at a local park in the 100 block of East Locust Street at about 7:06 p.m. Oct. 6. The case is under investigation.
DUI
• Amanda I. Burritt, 32, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence in the 800 block of West Reynolds Avenue at about 10:48 p.m. Oct. 6. Police contacted Burritt after she allegedly caused a collision and displayed signs of impairment.
Harassment
• Officers responded to a reported threat with a knife in the 800 block of West Sixth Street at about 6:16 p.m. Oct. 6. Police said they could not establish probable cause to make an arrest.
Hit-and-run
• Officers responded to a reported hit-and-run in the parking lot of a local business in the 1400 block of Lum Road at about 4:48 p.m. Oct. 6. No suspect information was available at the time.
Theft
• Officers responded to a reported theft via a phone scam in the 1100 block of Roosevelt Avenue at about 9:39 a.m. Oct. 6. No suspect information was available at the time.
• Officers responded to the reported theft of a bag containing bank cards in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue at about 10:54 a.m. Oct. 6. No suspect information was available at the time.
• Officers responded to the reported theft of a backpack in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at about 4:28 p.m. Oct. 6. No suspect information was available at the time.
Indecent exposure
• Walter Douglas, 54, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged indecent exposure in the 100 block of East Pine Street at about 2:40 p.m. Oct. 5.
Nuisance violation
• A 46-year-old Centralia man was issued a criminal citation for allegedly camping on city property in the 100 block of South Pearl Street at about noon Oct. 6.
Protection order violation
• Officers began investigating a possible order violation in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue at about 7:30 p.m. Oct. 5.
• William Schaletzke, 65, Elma, was referred to the Centralia Municipal Court for allegedly violating a domestic violence protection order in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road at about 1:04 p.m. Oct. 6.

Arrests and citations
• Fox C. Rogerson, 18, was issued a criminal citation for alleged third-degree theft in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at about 4:33 p.m. Oct. 2.
• Trevor K. Craig, 26, was issued a criminal citation for alleged second-degree criminal trespass in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard at about 6:43 p.m. Oct. 2.
• Curtis B. Lenz, 27, was issued a criminal citation and booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard at about 3:40 p.m. Oct. 4. Prosecutors subsequently charged Lenz with attempting to elude a police vehicle, according to court documents. A judge set bail at $10,000 cash or bond.
• Christopher L. Vanauken, 25, was issued a criminal citation and booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence near the corner of Southwest Second Street and Southwest McFadden Avenue at about 12:29 a.m. Oct. 6.
• Albert L. Brown, 51, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute or deliver in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way at about 3:12 p.m. Oct. 6
JAIL STATISTICS
• As of Oct. 7, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 145 inmates, including 132 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 110 were reported male and 22 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
• As of Oct. 7, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 15 inmates. Of those, four were from Centralia and five were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there were four from the Lummi Nation and one each from the Tulalip Tribe and the Skokomish Tribe.
