Sirens: Morton man 'doing donuts' arrested for DUI; person strikes vehicle with umbrella; arrests for drugs

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Arrests

• Jacob A. Rowland, 35, Rochester, was arrested in the 100 block of West High Street at about 7:46 p.m. Feb. 20 and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged escape from community custody and a Department of Corrections warrant.

Accidents

• Officers assisted the Washington State Patrol in a two-vehicle rollover collision in the 8300 block of southbound Interstate 5 at milepost 83 at about 8:50 a.m. Feb. 20.

Criminal traffic offenses

• Adrian R. Rojas, 23, Centralia, was arrested at the corner of Centralia College Boulevard and South Pearl Street at about 9:34 p.m. Feb. 20 and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for allegedly driving without an ignition interlock device. Additional offenses included alleged first-degree negligent driving and driving on a suspended license.

• Another occupant, Lillian M. Vergara, 18, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly making a false statement to a public servant, along with alleged possession of liquor by a minor. During the traffic stop, Rojas and Vergara allegedly switched seats to avoid Rojas's arrest. During the investigation, police reportedly discovered an open alcohol container in the vehicle where Vergara was sitting.

Criminal trespass

• Don K. Gonzales, 37, Centralia, was arrested in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue at about 8:49 p.m. Feb. 21 and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for second-degree criminal trespass after he allegedly entered and remained on property from which he had previously been trespassed.

DUI

• Issac Hiatt, 23, Morton, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence in the 600 block of South Tower Avenue at about 8:40 p.m. Feb. 21. Additional charges included alleged reckless driving and reckless endangerment. Police reportedly observed Hiatt doing “donuts” in the middle of an intersection. According to police, Hiatt had passengers in his vehicle, including a small child who was not in a car seat.

• Journi R. M. Trask, 28, Chehalis, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol in the 500 block of South Cedar Street at about 12:53 a.m. Feb. 22.

Drug paraphernalia

• Brian D. Veach, 44, Morton, and William B. Bernstein, 55, Centralia, were issued criminal citations for alleged use of drug paraphernalia and loitering for drug-related activity in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at about 8:21 a.m. Feb. 21.

• Jacob W. Daily, 48, Winlock, was issued criminal citations for alleged possession of open liquor in public and use of drug paraphernalia in the 300 block of Lowe Street at about 12:25 a.m. Feb. 23.

Malicious mischief

• Damage to a gate was reported in the 1100 block of Caveness Drive at about 6:46 a.m. Feb. 21. The case is under investigation.

Protection order violation



• Police investigated a protection order violation involving a cash app in the 200 block of South King Street at about 12:14 p.m. Feb. 22.

Suspicious activity

• Officers received a report of a vehicle following a victim and hitting their vehicle with an apparent umbrella in the 1800 block of Shamrock Drive at about 9:21 p.m. Feb. 22.  According to the victim, the suspect followed her after asking her for money, which she did not provide.

Theft

• Officers responded to a theft at a local business in the 300 block of West Reynolds Avenue at about 12:10 p.m. Feb. 20. The suspect left prior to the officers’ arrival.

• Officers responded to a theft at a local business in the 1500 block of Lum Road at about 2:27 p.m. Feb. 20. The incident reportedly occurred a week ago.

• A theft occurring several days prior was reported in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at about 11:40 a.m. Feb. 21. The case is under investigation.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Criminal trespass

• Ron B. Alger was given a criminal citation for alleged second-degree criminal trespass in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at about 10:33 p.m. Feb. 19.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Feb. 23, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 185 inmates, including 172 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 143 were reported male and 29 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Feb. 23, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 16 inmates. Of those, six were from Centralia and eight were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there was one each from the Skokomish Tribe and the Suquamish Tribe.
