Sirens: Nude man arrested for repeat offense; driver slumped over steering wheel in middle of road jailed; Tribal police catch suspect who fled Centralia police

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Malicious mischief

• Damage to a mailbox possibly caused by a vehicle was reported in the 400 block of East Carson Street at approximately 6:40 a.m. on May 30.

• A 23-year-old Centralia man was arrested for damaging property inside a residence in the 300 block of East Oakview Avenue at approximately 11:05 a.m. on May 30.

• Vandalism to the rear window of a vehicle in the 300 block of South Street was reported just after 9:40 p.m. on June 2.

 

Drug violations

• A juvenile reportedly had a dab pen at Centralia Middle School in the 900 block of Johnson Road just after 10:55 a.m. on May 30.

• Officers seized a vehicle in the 1200 block of Alder Street that had “known drug paraphernalia visible in plain view” inside just after 2:45 p.m. on May 31.

 

Theft

• A trailer was reported stolen from the 1100 block of North Pearl Street at 2:35 p.m. on May 30. The case is under investigation.

• Alcohol was reported stolen from a store in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue just after 3:15 p.m. on May 31. The case is under investigation.

• A cellphone was reported stolen from the 100 block of South Silver Street at approximately 6:40 a.m. on June 1. The case is under investigation.

 

Unlawful possession

• A 63-year-old Centralia man was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm in the 1100 block of Prospect Avenue just after 4:40 p.m. on May 30.

 

Dispute

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 100 block of Virginia Drive at 9:20 p.m. on May 30. One of the involved parties, a 34-year-old Chehalis man, was arrested on an outstanding Thurston County warrant.

 

Assault

• A 41-year-old Centralia woman was arrested in the 500 block of Madison Street just after 2:45 a.m. on May 31 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

• A 63-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 1100 block of Prospect Avenue at approximately 10:35 a.m. on May 31 for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence with sexual motivation.

• A 39-year-old Centralia man was referred for unlawful imprisonment and fourth-degree assault charges after he allegedly restrained and assaulted a woman in the 1200 block of South Tower Avenue just after 8:45 p.m. on May 31.

• Assault and harassment reported in the 100 block of North Tower Avenue at approximately 10:15 a.m. on June 2 is under investigation.

• At 4:35 p.m. on June 2, a possible assault that occurred in the 400 block of West Main Street about 20 minutes prior was reported. The male victim did not know the assailant and did not wish to pursue criminal charges.

• Centralia officers helped Lewis County Sheriff’s Office deputies respond to a domestic violence assault in the 2100 block of Taylor Street at approximately 10:55 p.m. on June 2.

 

Rape

• A sexual assault allegation reported in the 600 block of North Washington Avenue just before 2:10 p.m. on May 31 is under investigation.

 

Missing person

• A missing person report was filed just before 10:35 a.m. on May 31 for a Tacoma woman who was last seen in the 1200 block of West Main Street in Centralia.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run was reported at the intersection of North Tower Avenue and East Fourth Street just after 8:20 a.m. on May 31.

 

DUI

• A 43-year-old Centralia resident was arrested for DUI at the intersection of West Center and North Oak streets at approximately 11:40 p.m. on May 31. Officers had responded to a report of a driver slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle that was stopped in the middle of the road. Officers reportedly observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle near the driver’s seat and noted the driver appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

• A 27-year-old Centralia resident was arrested at the intersection of West Cherry Street and South Tower Avenue at approximately 2:20 a.m. on June 2 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for DUI.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle rear-end collision was reported in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m. on June 2. The at-fault driver, a 42-year-old Centralia man, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for DUI and third-degree driving with a suspended license.

 

Eluding

• A 24-year-old Chehalis man was arrested by Chehalis Tribal police after he allegedly fled from Centralia officers who attempted to stop him for a traffic infraction at the intersection of North Pearl Street and East Reynolds Avenue just before 11:15 a.m. on June 1. He was reportedly driving recklessly and passing vehicles at a high rate of speed. Centralia officers did not pursue, in compliance with state law.

 

Overdose

• A possible overdose was reported in a park in the 100 block of South Silver Street just after 7:15 p.m. on June 1. Officers determined the subject, a homeless Chehalis man, was extremely intoxicated. AMR transported him to Providence Centralia Hospital for medical treatment.

 

Criminal trespass

• A homeless Chehalis woman was trespassed from a business in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just after 1:15 a.m. on June 2 after employees reported she was acting disorderly and appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

 

Indecent exposure

• Officers received a report of a naked man running near the intersection of North Washington Avenue and West Center Street just before 4:15 p.m. on June 2. The man, 24, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for felony indecent exposure. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northeast Park Street and North Park Boulevard just after 7:45 a.m. on May 30.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of South Market Boulevard just after 2:40 p.m. on May 31.

• A non-injury, rear-end collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest State Avenue and Northwest Sitka Street just after 4:25 p.m. on May 31.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle rear-end collision was reported in the 400 block of West Main Street at approximately 5:30 p.m. on May 31.

 

DUI

• A DUI reported at the intersection of Southeast Cascade Avenue and Southeast Alfred Street at approximately 8:10 a.m. on May 30 is under investigation. At least one subject was arrested.

 



Theft

• Possible mail theft was reported in the 200 block of Northeast Cascade Avenue at approximately 9:45 a.m. on May 30.

• A woman reportedly stole a bottle of beer from the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 2:10 p.m. on May 30. She was arrested for third-degree theft.

• A possible vehicle theft was reported in the 1500 block of Northwest State Avenue at 9:20 p.m. on May 30.

• At 10:35 a.m. on May 31, possible mail theft that occurred in the 500 block of Northwest Rhode Island Place sometime around 1 p.m. the day prior was reported.

• At 5:15 p.m. on May 31, a caller in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way reported their vehicle’s license plate had been stolen and replaced with a different plate. The reporting party said they believed their plate was swapped in Covington and would return the swapped plate to the Covington Police Department.

• At approximately 7:15 p.m. on May 31, a shoplift that occurred in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard at about 6:30 p.m. that same day was reported.

• Just after 12:25 a.m. on June 2, a citizen reported a $1,200 bicycle was stolen from the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue 25 to 30 minutes ago.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 2:15 p.m. on June 2 is under investigation.

• A vehicle was reported stolen from the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 7:30 a.m. on June 3.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• A citizen in the 300 block of Southeast Fairview Avenue reported an unknown male was on their front porch at 12:30 p.m. on May 30. Officers confirmed the man was a salesperson.

• A man with a knife sticking out of his bag was reportedly loitering in the lobby of a business in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard just after 6:50 p.m. on May 31.

• An employee at a business in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue reported someone was smoking meth in the bathroom just after 10 p.m. on May 31. Responding officers found no controlled substances or glass in the bathroom.

• A man was reportedly walking on top of a railing in the 1000 block of Northwest West Street at approximately 10:40 a.m. on June 1.

• A man was reportedly carrying a rock and saying “someone almost ran him over and he intended to find them and hurt them” in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 12:05 p.m. on June 1.

• Five to six people were reportedly “getting high and boxing” during a party at an apartment in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 10 p.m. on June 1.

• A woman was reportedly “huffing (an) aerosol can” in the 1200 block of South Market Boulevard just before 2:25 p.m. on June 2.

• A homeless man was reportedly “smoking a crack pipe” in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just before 2:40 p.m. on June 2.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A woman was reportedly kicking over garbage cans in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 12:45 p.m. on May 30.

 

Animal negligence/abuse

• A man on a mini bike was reportedly dragging a large black dog by the leash in the 500 block of Northwest Market Boulevard just before 1:50 p.m. on May 30.

• A dog was reportedly “panting hard” inside a car in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way just after 1:30 p.m. on May 31. Officers confirmed the dog did not appear to be in distress.

 

Scam

• A scam involving someone depositing money into a person’s bank account through PayPal and asking them to withdraw the money and deposit it at an ATM without the bank’s knowledge was reported in the 1500 block of North National Avenue at 2 p.m. on May 30.

 

Criminal trespass

• A man was possibly setting up camp by a shooting range in the 2000 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue just after 2:20 p.m. on May 30.

• A person reportedly set off a burglary alarm at a business in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way just after 11:50 p.m. on May 30. They were trespassed from the property.

• A homeless man was reportedly camping out behind a business in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 11:05 a.m. on May 31.

• An intoxicated man reportedly refused to leave a Lyft in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 8:25 p.m. on June 31. He reportedly left the Lyft before officers arrived. He was subsequently trespassed from a nearby fast food restaurant for disorderly conduct.

• A homeless man with a bag on his shoulder was reportedly walking on the train tracks in the 600 block of Shorey Road at approximately 4:10 p.m. on June 1. Railroad staff asked officers to trespass him from railroad property, but officers were unable to locate him.

• A woman reportedly trespassed on railroad tracks at the intersection of Northwest West Street and North National Avenue at approximately 2:05 a.m. on June 3.

• At 7:05 a.m. on June 3, a citizen in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street reported a former roommate was trespassing after he was let in to collect his belongings but refused to leave.

 

Malicious mischief

• Possible vehicle prowl and malicious mischief was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 6:05 p.m. on May 31.

 

Extortion

• A case of second-degree extortion reported in the 500 block of west Main Street just after 7:35 a.m. on June 1 is under investigation.

 

Juvenile problem

• A possible runaway juvenile was reported in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 3:40 p.m. on June 2.

Harassment

• A disorderly woman at a store in the 400 block of Northwest Chehalis Street reportedly threatened to “put a bomb in front of the PD” just after 5 p.m. on June 2. She also reportedly threatened store employees who tried to get her to leave the store. She was trespassed from the business and was arrested for harassment.

• A man reportedly violated a protection order and threatened to kick a child down the stairs in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 3:45 a.m. on June 3. He fled the scene before officers arrived.

 

Sexual misconduct

• Possible sexual harassment was reported in the 1200 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue just after 9:10 p.m. on June 2.

 

Dispute

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 100 block of Northeast Boistfort Street at 3:10 a.m. on June 3.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Thursday morning and Monday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 86 illness-related calls, 29 injury-related calls, 21 fire-related calls, nine non-emergency service calls, five vehicle accidents, three overdoses, four Lifeline medical alerts, two ambulance requests, one suicide-related call, one hazardous conditions report, one pregnancy-related call and 12 other calls.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 131 inmates, including 118 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 93 were reported male and 25 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 12 inmates, including seven booked by the Centralia Police Department, two booked by the state Department of Corrections, two booked by the Lummi Nation and one booked by the Suquamish Tribe.
