Sirens: Possession of Stolen Vehicle; Eluding Police; DUI Arrest; Assault; Theft

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Burglary 

• A juvenile was arrested in the 400 block of North Ash Street at 8 a.m. on Jan. 4 and was booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for allegedly entering a vacant apartment and causing damage inside. 

• A burglary of a business in the 500 block of West Main Street was reported at 9:15 a.m. on Jan. 4. Money was reported stolen from inside and a window was reportedly damaged. 

 

Vehicle Accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of West Pear and South Washington avenues at 8:40 a.m. on Jan. 4. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Kresky Avenue and East Summa Street just after 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 4. 

• A Centralia man was cited for driving without a valid driver’s license after he was involved in a minor-injury, two-vehicle collision reported at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and West Bridge Street at approximately 7 p.m. on Jan. 4. 

 

Vehicle Prowl

• Several items were reported stolen from a parked vehicle in the 1000 block of South Silver Avenue at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Jan. 4. 

• A debit card and other items were reported stolen from a parked vehicle in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue at 6:45 p.m. on Jan. 5. The debit card was later reportedly used at a business in Chehalis. The case is under investigation. 

 

Other Theft 

• A Chehalis man was cited for third-degree theft at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Jan. 5 after allegedly taking a cellphone that was left on a counter at a business in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue. 

• A Glenoma man was cited for shoplifting an herb grinder from a business in the 500 block of North Tower Avenue just after 1:25 p.m. on Jan. 5. 

 

Stolen Vehicle Recovery 

• A Lacey man was arrested in the 300 block of Genge Street just after 1:50 a.m. on Jan. 5 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail on multiple outstanding warrants and for being in possession of a stolen vehicle at the time of his arrest. 

 

Eluding Police 

• A 1995 green Honda Civic reportedly eluded police when it drove off at a high rate of speed northbound on Harrison Avenue at Reynolds Road after the officer activated his emergency lights to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation just before 1:15 a.m. on Jan. 5. “The suspect drove the Honda in a reckless manner disregarding laws to stop and the safety of the public,” according to the Centralia Police Department. The officer did not pursue the suspect in accordance with Washington state law. 

 



DUI 

• Juber Flores-Suarez, 31, of Rochester, was arrested in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 12:10 a.m. on Jan. 6 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Assault 

• A fourth-degree assault was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 7:35 a.m. on Jan. 4. The victim reported “he’s housesitting for some friends and someone kicked the door in and assaulted him.” No arrests had been made as of Thursday morning. 

 

Malicious Mischief 

• Damage to a window was reported at the intersection of Northwest Arkansas Way and Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Jan. 4. 

 

Vehicle Accident 

• A subject was issued a criminal citation following a non-injury, two-vehicle accident that was reported in the 1800 block of South Market Boulevard at 2:50 p.m. on Jan. 4. 

 

Theft 

• A subject was cited for shoplifting in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 7:25 p.m. on Jan. 4. 

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A “disorderly customer” was reportedly “yelling at (an) employee” at a business in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 9:40 p.m. on Jan. 4. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 142 inmates, including 131 in the general population and 11 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 102 were reported male and 29 were reported female. All WERC inmates were reported male.
