Sirens: Reckless campfire, counterfeit money, drug violations

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle accident 

• Minor injuries were reported following a collision at the intersection of Northwest Arkansas Way and Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 9:50 a.m. on Aug. 20.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run that occurred in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue on Aug. 18 was reported at 4:35 p.m. on Aug. 21.

 

Assault

• A woman reportedly punched an ambulance staff member in the face in the 500 block of Southeast Adams Avenue at approximately 12:50 p.m. on Aug. 20.

 

Fraud

• A subject reportedly attempted to use counterfeit money in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 2:50 p.m. on Aug. 20.

 

Sexual assault

• A rape reported in the 500 block of Southeast Adams Avenue at 4:05 p.m. on Aug. 20 is under investigation.

 

DUI

• A subject was arrested for a DUI at the intersection of Southwest Pacific Avenue and Southwest Fifth Street at 5:05 p.m. on Aug. 20.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A man was reportedly “running around (and) yelling at people” in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way just before 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 20.

 

Harassment

• Possible phone harassment was reported in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street just before 9:40 a.m. on Aug. 21. The reporting party was advised to get a civil no-contact order.

 

Reckless burning

• A subject was cited for starting a campfire in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just before 7:55 p.m. on Aug. 21.

 

Shooting complaint

• A caller reported hearing five gunshots in the 500 block of Southwest Riverside Drive just after 10:45 p.m. on Aug. 21.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• A 35-year-old Shelton man was arrested for allegedly assaulting someone during an attempted theft in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 10:40 a.m. on Aug. 21.

• A citizen reported they interrupted a vehicle prowl in the 500 block of Warren Street just before 3:45 a.m. on Aug. 22. The suspects fled the scene in a silver vehicle.

• Someone reported $20 was stolen from the 200 block of West Reynolds Avenue at 9:40 a.m. on Aug. 22.

• A Honda lawnmower and a pressure washer were reported stolen from the 900 block of Long Road at 2:45 p.m. on Aug. 22.

 

Dispute

• A verbal dispute was reported at the intersection of West Pear Street and South Washington Avenue just before 12:50 p.m. on Aug. 21. One of the involved parties was arrested on an unrelated Chehalis Municipal Court warrant.

• A dispute involving two homeless men and possibly a knife was reported in the 100 block of South Silver Street just after 1:05 p.m. on Aug. 21. “Officers investigated but no parties would cooperate,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

Drug violations

• A 40-year-old Chehalis man who was arrested for a Napavine Municipal Court warrant in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just after 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 21 reportedly had meth on his person.

• A 30-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and a 28-year-old WInlock man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue just after 7:10 a.m. on Aug. 23.

 

DUI

• A 32-year-old Centralia man was arrested for DUI, eluding, unlawful imprisonment, reckless endangerment, third-degree driving with a suspended license and an unrelated felony warrant after he allegedly fled from officers who tried to stop him at the intersection of Harrison and Fords Prairie Avenues just after 2:20 a.m. on Aug. 22. He reportedly drove off the roadway, crossed the center line and failed to stop until officers conducted a low-speed PIT maneuver, according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

 

Malicious mischief

• Damage to a vehicle in the 200 block of South Silver Street was reported just before 1:05 p.m. on Aug. 22.

• Damage to a tire was reported in the 300 block of North Gold Street just before 3:55 p.m. on Aug. 22.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Wednesday morning and Friday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 43 illness-related calls, 20 injury-related calls, 11 fire-related calls, six non-emergency service calls, five vehicle accidents, two Lifeline medical alerts, one 911 hangup call, two ambulance requests and two other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 146 inmates, including 133 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 101 were reported male and 32 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Friday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 16 inmates, including nine booked by the Centralia Police Department, three booked by the state Department of Corrections, three booked by the Lummi Nation and one booked by the City of Elma.
