Sirens: Resident finds burglar in home; Riot reported at Green Hill School; Middle school staffer threatened

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Criminal trespass

• A man reportedly refused to leave the front porch of a residence in the 500 block of Northwest Pacific Avenue just after 8:40 a.m. on Jan. 9. The man left after the reporting party called the police.

• At approximately 9:05 a.m. on Jan. 9, a caller reported an elderly woman had approached their front door “rambling about vehicle theft.” Another reporting party stated the woman was standing in the roadway earlier that day.

• A man with a dog reportedly refused to leave a property in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard at approximately 3:10 p.m. on Jan. 9.

• A male subject who was reportedly “walking around the place with a crowbar” was trespassed from a property in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way just before 8:25 a.m. on Jan. 11.

• A male subject reportedly refused to leave the lobby of a property in the 200 block of Northwest Cascade Avenue just after 7:05 a.m. on Jan. 12.

 

DUI

• A subject was arrested in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 11:50 a.m. on Jan. 9 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for DUI.

 

Hit-and-run

• Just after 12:05 p.m. on Jan. 9, a hit-and-run that occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was reported.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A vehicle struck a pole at the intersection of West Main Street and state Route 6 just after 10:50 a.m. on Jan. 10. The driver reported knee pain after the crash.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of South Market Boulevard and Southwest Ninth Street at 10:55 a.m. on Jan. 10.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle, partially blocking collision was reported on the southbound Interstate 5 Exit 79 on ramp just after 7 p.m. on Jan. 11.

 

Theft

• A male subject was cited for shoplifting in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 1 p.m. on Jan. 9.

• Liquor was reported stolen from a store in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard at 6:15 p.m. on Jan. 9.

• A “pink bike with pineapples on it” was reported stolen from the 300 block of Southwest Riverside Drive just after 4:20 p.m. on Jan. 10.

 

Burglary

• Just after 4:10 p.m. on Jan. 10, a homeowner in the 300 block of Southwest 13th Street reported coming home to find a man with a green backpack sitting inside his residence. The man, identified as Daimian Mikeangelo Bowie, 46, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree burglary and third-degree theft. He was additionally booked on outstanding warrants from unrelated Chehalis Municipal Court cases.

• A burglary reported in the 500 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue at 5 p.m. on Jan. 10 is under investigation.

 

Harassment

• At approximately 4:40 p.m. on Jan. 10, a caller reported a woman was harassing her business in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard. The woman was reportedly calling the business and yelling at employees, “claiming the business has her dog,” saying “she let the dog out to use the restroom and the business must have grabbed the dog.”

• Just after 12:50 p.m. on Jan. 11, a caller reported his “crazy neighbor … keeps turning his electricity off” and threatening him. The caller later stated “he has never seen his neighbor mess with him or his home, only hears voices threatening him harm.” He reportedly said he “believes (his) neighbor put cameras in his home and is speaking to (him) through them.” Dispatch advised the caller “most likely has mental health issues.”

• At approximately 5:05 p.m. on Jan. 11, a caller in the 800 block of South Market Boulevard reported his roommate is “continually harassing and threatening (the caller).” The roommate was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for harassment just before 5:40 p.m.

 

Assault

• A subject was arrested for fourth-degree assault in the 1000 block of Northwest Prindle Street just before 5:55 p.m. on Jan. 10. 

• A fourth-degree assault reported in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way just after 1:15 p.m. on Jan. 11 is under investigation.

• An assault reported in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street at 3:40 p.m. on Jan. 11 is under investigation.

 



Prison riot

• Just after 8:45 a.m. on Jan. 11, the assistant superintendent of Green Hill School asked law enforcement to “investigate a major youth incident” that occurred at approximately 2 p.m. on Dec. 9. Green Hill stated six subjects had “engaged in (a) multi-youth fight,” according to the Chehalis Police Department.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Harassment

• At approximately 10:05 a.m. on Jan. 10, a Centralia Middle School student reportedly fled the school in the 900 block of Johnson Road after threatening a staff member. The student returned to the school later that day and was referred to Lewis County Juvenile Court for harassment.

 

Criminal trespass

• A citizen reported a homeless camp outside a dog park in the 800 block of South Gold Street just after 10:35 a.m. on Jan. 10.

• A homeless man was reportedly camping on a property in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue at 1:15 p.m. on Jan. 10. No one was present when the officer arrived at the tent.

• Officers were trespassed to the 2000 block of Borst Avenue just before 2:15 p.m. on Jan. 10 for a report of a man who was allegedly “throwing garbage and intentionally flooding the inside of a Borst Park restroom.” The man, 35, of Chehalis, was trespassed from the park for one year at a park employee’s request.

• A disorderly woman reportedly refused to leave a business in the 700 block of North Tower Avenue at 4:05 p.m. on Jan. 10. She left the business before officers arrived.

• A homeless man was given a verbal warning for trespassing after he was found “bothering people” inside a post office mailbox area in the 200 block of Centralia College Boulevard. He left the area after receiving the warning.

 

Theft

• A male passenger on a Lewis County Transit bus reportedly stole the bus driver’s lunch box, which contained the driver's iPhone and other property, in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue at 10:55 a.m. on Jan. 10. The suspect fled the bus on foot.

• A homeless woman allegedly stole “a Christmas bulb/ornament” from someone’s yard in the 100 block of West Main Street just after 1:10 p.m. on Jan. 10. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

• Just before 2:05 p.m. on Jan. 11, a  red, three-wheel bicycle was reported stolen from the 1400 block of North Scheuber Road sometime overnight.

 

Vehicle accidents

• Minor injuries were reported following a two-vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of West Pear and South Silver street just before 11:15 a.m. on Jan. 10.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 600 block of West Main Street at 1:20 p.m. on Jan. 10.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 10:55 a.m. on Jan. 11.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of North Tower Avenue and East Pine Street just before 11:15 a.m. on Jan. 11.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1200 block of Lum Road just after 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 11. One vehicle had reportedly stopped to make a left turn when another vehicle rear-ended it. 

 

Suspicious circumstances

• At 12:20 p.m. On Jan. 11, a business in the 1300 block of Lum Road reported people were “making employees nervous that they were about to steal.” The subjects “decided to leave” when officers arrived.

 

Malicious mischief

• A 32-year-old Olympia man is being referred to Centralia Municipal Court on domestic violence third-degree malicious mischief, obstructing and third-degree criminal trespass charges after he allegedly broke the windshield on a family member’s vehicle at the intersection of Windsor Avenue and Vienna Street just before 8:50 p.m. on Jan. 11. He allegedly went into the backyard of a private residence while fleeing from police.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 147 inmates, including 134 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 111 were reported male and 23 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
