CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Littering 

• A woman reportedly dumped trash near the intersection of Oxford Avenue and Marion Street just after 11:30 a.m. on July 17. 

 

Identity Theft 

• A case of identity theft was reported in the 1100 block of Creekside Court just after 11:40 a.m. on July 17. The victim told law enforcement they learned that their identity had been stolen by an unknown person, who used the victim’s personal information to rent a house for 10 months in another state, according to the Centralia Police Department. The victim was then contacted by a collection agency who advised them they owed over $40,000. “It is unknown at this time if the victim had their identity stolen or if the phone call notification was a fraudulent/scam attempt,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

Theft 

• Shoes were reported stolen from an outlet store in the 100 block of West High Street just before 5:15 p.m. on July 17. The suspect was trespassed from the business. 

• Just after 8:05 a.m. on July 18, a resident of the 1000 block of J Street reported their residence was burglarized sometime overnight. “Items of little value were taken,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

• An unidentified male reportedly stole $20 worth of deli chicken from a grocery store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 6:10 p.m. on July 18. 

• Two unidentified females reportedly stole $1,000 worth of groceries from a grocery store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 8:05 p.m. on July 18 and fled in a black Audi A3. A Washington State Patrol trooper located the vehicle on Interstate 5, but the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and was not pursued, according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A bicyclist vs. vehicle collision was reported in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue just after 1:20 p.m. on July 17. The reporting party told law enforcement the bicyclist crossed the road on a red light and the vehicle had only bumped the bicyclist, who appeared to be under the influence, according to the Centralia Police Department. The vehicle stopped to await contact by police, but the bicyclist fled. Police were not able to locate the bicyclist.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 200 block of Floral Street at 3:20 p.m. on July 17. 

• A vehicle reportedly struck a parked car in the 200 block of West Cherry Street at 11:20 p.m. on July 17. No injuries were reported. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Kresky Avenue and East Summa Street just before 2:05 p.m. on July 18. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just after 7:35 p.m. on July 17. 

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A man was reportedly throwing rocks at cars in a parking lot in the 1700 block of South Gold Street just after 2:10 p.m. on July 17. 

• A disorderly homeless person was trespassed from school property in the 900 block of Johnson Road just after 10:45 a.m. on July 18. 

• A disorderly male was reportedly yelling at people in front of Borst Park in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue just before 11:20 a.m. on July 18. The male, identified as a homeless man from California, was issued a verbal warning. 

• A disorderly female reportedly hit a vehicle, causing damage, in the 1000 block of Kresky Avenue just after 12:30 p.m. on July 18. 

• A disorderly male was reportedly yelling at people near the playground of Borst Park the 2000 block of Borst Avenue at 3:10 p.m. on July 18. The male, identified as a homeless man from Centralia, was issued a verbal warning. 

 

Assault 

• A homeless man from Tacoma was arrested in the 100 block of North Gold Street just after 9:55 p.m. on July 17 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault and trespassing after he allegedly threw a salt shaker at a staff member at a shelter then refused to leave. The staff member was not injured. 

• A fourth-degree assault that occurred at a gym in the 2000 block of Johnson Road and was reported at approximately midnight on July 17 is under investigation. 

 

Harassment  

• Just before 10:10 a.m. on July 18, a caller in the 1100 block of Marion Street reported receiving harassing text messages from an unknown male. 

 

Eluding Police 

• A Centralia officer reportedly observed a suspicious vehicle at a gas station on Harrison Avenue just after 4:05 a.m. on July 19. The officer contacted the occupants at the vehicle to inquire why the vehicle did not have a front license plate and had been spray painted over the original paint.  While the officer was speaking to the female driver, the driver sped off without activating their head lights. The officer attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle as it got onto Interstate 5, traveling southbound. The officer terminated his attempt to stop the vehicle shortly after to comply with state laws, according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle Accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at approximately 10:20 a.m. on July 17. 



• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Arkansas Way and Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 5:45 p.m. on July 17. 

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A disorderly juvenile was reportedly “screaming and throwing chairs” in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way at approximately 4:25 p.m. on July 17. 

• A female was reportedly “screaming and causing a ruckus” in the 10 block of Southwest Sixth Street just before 12:30 a.m. on July 18, according to the Chehalis Police Department. 

 

Harassment 

• Just after 4:35 p.m. on July 17, a caller reported his girlfriend’s ex was threatening his girlfriend over the phone in the 200 block of Southeast Washington Avenue. 

 

Animal Negligence/Abuse 

• A dog was reportedly left in a locked car at the intersection of Southwest 12th Street and South Market Boulevard at approximately 5:30 p.m. on July 17. 

• A dog was reportedly locked in a vehicle in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 7 a.m. on July 18. The reporting party stated the dog had been in the car since last night and was “crying,” according to the Chehalis Police Department.  

 

Family Disturbance/Dispute 

• A verbal family disturbance/dispute was reported in the 1100 block of Southwest 22nd Street just before 4:45 a.m. on July 18. 

• A verbal family disturbance/dispute was reported in the 300 block of Southwest William Avenue at approximately 7:20 p.m. on July 18. 

Fire 

• A grass fire was reported in the 10 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue at 9:20 a.m. on July 18. 

 

Burglary 

• An attempted burglary was reported in the 900 block of Northwest St. Helens Avenue just after noon on July 18 after the reporting party found a “window popped out,” according to the Chehalis Police Department. 

 

Malicious Mischief 

• A case of malicious mischief reported in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just after 2:50 p.m. on July 18 is under investigation. 

 

DUI  

• Sanda Kay Holcomb, 61, was arrested in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 3:40 p.m. on July 18 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence. 

 

Suspicious Circumstances 

• A case involving suspicious circumstances reported at the intersection of Southwest Seventh Street and Southwest McFadden Avenue at 11:40 p.m. on July 18 is under investigation. 

 

Theft 

• Beer was reported stolen from a business in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 1:40 a.m. on July 19. 

 

Eluding Police 

• A case of eluding police was reported at the intersection of Southwest Eighth Street and Southwest Cascade Avenue just before 2 a.m. on July 19. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 167 inmates, including 154 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 126 were reported male and 28 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
