Sirens: Several Stolen Hondas; Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle; Police Asked to 'Talk to This Idiot'

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Malicious Mischief 

• The window of a vehicle parked in a lot in the 700 block of Pioneer Way was reportedly broken out just after 8:50 a.m. on Jan. 18. 

Retail Theft 

• A California man was cited for third-degree theft in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 9:55 a.m. on Jan. 18 after he allegedly took food from a local store without paying. 

• Officers are investigating after an unidentified suspect reportedly stole a cart full of items from a store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue and fled in a maroon 2001 PT Cruiser just after 1 p.m. on Jan. 18. 

• Clothing was reported stolen from a store in the 1300 block of Lum Road just before 4:35 p.m. on Jan. 19. 

• Two subjects reportedly stole items from a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at 9:10 p.m. on Jan. 19 and fled the scene before officers arrived. 

Vehicle Theft

• Just before 10:40 a.m. on Jan. 18, a four-door Honda Accord with the Washington license plate CBH7502 was reported stolen from the 1000 block of Eckerson Road sometime over the weekend. 

• At 5:55 p.m. on Jan. 18, a black 2001 Honda CRV with the Washington license plate CCA2431 was reported stolen from the 300 block of Hemlock Street sometime overnight. 

• Just before 7:10 p.m. on Jan. 18, a blue 1998 Honda Civic with the Washington license plate CCG2258 was reported stolen from the 1200 block of West Main Street sometime overnight. 

Other Theft 

• A cellphone was reported stolen from the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 12:25 a.m. on Jan. 19. The phone was turned off right after it was stolen, prohibiting the owner from locating it via a GPS application. 

Assault 

• A 16-year-old girl was arrested in the 900 block of South Pearl Street just after 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 18 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. 

• A Centralia woman was arrested in the 1000 block of Woodland Avenue just before 4 p.m. on Jan. 18 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. 

Vehicle Accidents 

• Injuries were reported following a vehicle versus pedestrian accident at the intersection of Haviland Street and Belmont Avenue at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 19. The at-fault party was issued an infraction. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Harrison and Belmont avenues just after 12:35 p.m. on Jan. 19. 

• A three-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of West Bridge Street and Harrison Avenue just after 5:15 p.m. on Jan. 10. A driver traveling eastbound on Harrison Avenue at Bridge Street reportedly failed to stop his vehicle in time and collided with the back end of a stopped vehicle, which was pushed into the back of another stopped vehicle, according to the Centralia Police Department. Two vehicles that were blocking eastbound traffic needed to be towed from the scene. Aid arrived on scene and treated two people for minor injuries. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of West Bridge Street and Harrison Avenue just after 5:25 p.m. on Jan. 19 when the driver of a small pickup truck failed to stop behind another pickup and collided with the back of it. The driver of the small pickup was paying attention to the collision on the opposite side of the roadway when he should have been watching the road in front of him, according to the Centralia Police Department. Minor damage to both vehicles was observed.

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Vehicle Accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Southeast Sixth Street and Southeast Adams Avenue just before 9:25 a.m. on Jan. 18. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of South Market Boulevard and Southwest Sixth Street at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 18.



Disputes

• A subject reportedly threatened to kill someone during a verbal dispute in the 1700 block of South Market Boulevard just after 12:40 p.m. on Jan. 18. 

• A verbal dispute between an adult and a juvenile was reported in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court at approximately 8:25 p.m. on Jan. 18. 

Malicious Mischief

• Just before 4:25 p.m. on Jan. 18, a caller reported their vehicle in the 500 block of Northeast Washington Avenue had been broken into and it appeared someone attempted to start it with a screwdriver. 

Burglary 

• Just after 7 p.m. on Jan. 18, a caller reported someone broke into her residence in the 2200 block of Jackson Highway, stole her TV and possibly stole her laptop. 

Theft 

• A vehicle theft reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 8:55 p.m. on Jan. 18 is under investigation. 

• A subject was cited for shoplifting in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 9:40 a.m. on Jan. 19. 

• A $200 LED light was reported stolen from the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 2:55 p.m. on Jan. 19. 

Fraud 

• Just after 11:05 a.m. on Jan. 19, a caller in the 200 block of Northeast Cascade Avenue reported fraudulent charges on a bank account. 

Assault 

• Two W.F. West High School students were cited for fourth-degree assault just after 2:20 p.m. on Jan. 19 after they allegedly assaulted a female at the school, which is located in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street. 

Disorderly Conduct 

• At 5:40 p.m. on Jan. 19, a caller reported a man “with a leaf blower” was “throwing trash cans around” in the 600 block of Northwest Folsom Street. When contacted by law enforcement, the man said he lived in the area and was trying to keep drains free of leaves. 

Juvenile Problem 

• Just before 6:10 p.m. on Jan. 19, a caller in the 900 block of Northwest Pennsylvania Avenue reported his 13-year-old grandson pushed his 7-year-old sibling into a counter and the caller wanted “police to come down and talk to this idiot,” according to the Chehalis Police Department. The children’s grandmother later called back to report the kids were getting along. 

Public Works 

• A case involving Chehalis Public Works reported in the 100 block of Northeast Division Street just before 7:25 p.m. on Jan. 19 is under investigation. 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 140 inmates, including 128 in the general population and 12 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 104 were reported male and 24 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 10 were reported male and two were reported female.
