Sirens: Sick wild goose reported; construction crew breaks water line; minors reportedly drinking at ball parks

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Sick goose

• A call regarding a “sick wild goose” in the 1800 block of Collision Street was turned over to the state Department of Fish and Wildlife at 8 a.m. on April 8.

 

Found property

• Identification that was found in the 1000 block of West First Street at 9:15 a.m. on April 8 was turned in to the Centralia police station.

• A bank card that was found in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue just after 9:15 a.m. on April 8 was turned in to the Centralia police station.

 

Malicious mischief

• Damage to a heat pump unit in the 100 block of South Pearl Street was reported just after 2:05 p.m. on April 8.

 

Vehicle accidents

• An unlicensed driver struck a utility pole in the 700 block of Marion Street at 2:10 p.m. on April 8. The driver was cited for driving without a valid license and driving without valid insurance.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and northbound Interstate 5 just before 4:35 p.m. on April 8.

 

Dispute

• A family argument about getting ready for school was reported in the 3800 block of Russell Road just before 8:25 a.m. on April 9.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of North Gold Street just after 9:05 a.m. on April 9 regarding a 911 hangup call where several people were heard yelling. Officers found no one in the area in need of assistance.

 

Burglary

• A Stihl weedeater was reported stolen from a garage in the 1000 block of B Street just after 7:55 p.m. on April 9. An unknown suspect had broken the clasp off the garage door to force it open.

 

Theft

• Two subjects reportedly shoplifted from a business in the 300 block of Reynolds Avenue just before 5:25 p.m. on April 8 and fled the scene. The case is under investigation.

• Six pairs of shoes were reported stolen from a business in the 1300 block of Lum Road just before 6:20 p.m. on April 8. Officers were unable to locate the male suspect.

• A man allegedly stopped his significant other from leaving a motel room in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road just before 8:30 p.m. on April 8, took her wallet and fled on foot. He has been referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office for first-degree theft and unlawful imprisonment charges.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Criminal trespass

• A subject was trespassed from a property in the 1300  block of Southwest McFadden Avenue just before 8:30 a.m. on April 8.

• A “known drug dealer” was trespassed from a shelter in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 8:35 a.m. on April 8.

• A tent was reportedly being set up along a nature trail behind a school in the 1200 block of Bishop Road just after 10:05 a.m. on April 8.

• A suspicious male subject was trespassed from a property in the 200 block of Northwest Cascade Avenue just before 2:30 p.m. on April 8.

• A man who was reportedly “yelling at people” in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 7:40 p.m. on April 8 was trespassed from the property.

• A male subject who was “making threats towards staff” in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 11:05 a.m. on April 9 was trespassed from the business.

• A disorderly man was trespassed from a business in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 11:55 a.m. on April 9.



• Just before 1:35 p.m. on April 9, a shirtless man who was reportedly walking in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard “being belligerent” was trespassed from a nearby store for “trying to walk away with a garbage can lid.”

• A citizen asked officers to move along fruit sellers in a vacant lot in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 2:10 p.m. on April 9.

• A man was trespassed from a property in  the 800 block of Northwest Alta Way just before 3:20 p.m. on April 9.

• A criminal trespass reported in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard just before 5:40 p.m. on April 9 is under investigation.

 

Burglary

• Damage to a storage unit’s lock was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 10:30 a.m. on April 8.

 

Disputes

• A “landlord/tenant issue” was reported in the 10 block of Southwest Phillips Court just before 2 p.m. on April 8.

• Just before 9:35 a.m. on April 9, a physical dispute between a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy that took place the day prior in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way was reported.

• A civil issue was reported in the 1200 block of Southwest Ripple Court just after 10:30 p.m. on April 9. The reporting party was advised of their options and was advised to call back if anything of concern comes up.

 

Scam

• Just before 3:05 p.m. on April 9, a woman reported her mother had given a scammer thousands of dollars via gift cards purchased in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue.

 

Alcohol violation

• Minors were reportedly drinking alcohol at a baseball field in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just before 4:35 p.m. on April 9. The reporting party told the dispatcher he “was called by Prosecutor Meyer telling him of this.”

 

Broken pipe

• A construction crew reportedly hit a water pipe in the front yard of a residence in the 700 block of Southeast Washington Avenue at 4:55 p.m. on April 9. The water was shut off and the water department was notified.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• A suspicious vehicle was reportedly driving back and forth in the 10 block of Southwest Fifth Street just before 11:40 p.m. on April 8.

• A woman was reportedly walking down the street and yelling in the 1500 block of Southwest William Avenue at approximately 3:25 a.m. on April 9.

• Just before 7:10 a.m. on April 9, a citizen reported a male subject who he thought stole something from a taco truck in the 1500 block of North National Avenue. No arrests were made.

• A citizen reported a suspicious male subject in a barber shop in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just before 6:30 p.m. on April 9.

• A man who “was saying something about being cold or frostbite or something” and who “just looked like he was cold trying to get out of the weather” reportedly knocked on the doors of multiple residencies in the 900 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 1:50 a.m. on April 10.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Monday morning and Wednesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 45 illness-related calls, 10 injury-related calls, 10 fire-related calls, seven non-emergency service calls, three vehicle accidents, two Lifeline medical alerts, one found dead body, one public assist request, one overdose, one pregnancy-related call and one other call. The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the call about the found body was related to a 72-year-old female who passed away under non-suspicious circumstances.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 160 inmates, including 147 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 113 were reported male and 34 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 15 inmates, including five booked by the Centralia Police Department, six booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Lummi Nation, one booked by the City of Elma and two booked by Chehalis Tribal Court.
