Sirens: Solar panels stolen; Debit cards taken by scammer; Naked homeless man asked to leave

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Theft 

• Solar panels were reported stolen from a fence in the 200 block of Northup Street just after 8 a.m. on Nov. 27. 

• An electric bicycle was reported stolen from the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue just after 8:35 a.m. on Nov. 27. The case is under investigation. 

• Just after 2:55 p.m. on Nov. 28, a bicycle was reported stolen from the 200 block of North Tower Avenue approximately two weeks prior. 

• Just before 3 p.m. on Nov. 28, two victims reported their debit cards were stolen in separate events that took place within 10-15 minutes of each other. Both victims reported a person approached them saying the victim dropped a $20 bill, then the suspect put the money into the victim’s purse and at some point was able to steal the debit cards without the victim realizing until later on. One of the stolen cards was reportedly used at a gas station in Napavine. The case is under investigation. 

 

Burglary 

• A 37-year-old Kelso man was arrested in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road just after 1:35 a.m. on Nov. 28 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree burglary after he was found inside the room of a motel he was trespassed from. He had an ID that wasn’t his at the time of his arrest, but officers used another agency’s mobile fingerprint reader to identify the man, according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

Malicious mischief 

• Damage to a vehicle fuel line was reported in the 1100 block of Kresky Avenue just before 8:50 a.m. on Nov. 27. 

• Damage to windows at a residence in the 600 block of South Diamond Street was reported at approximately 2:55 p.m. on Nov. 27. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• A 43-year-old homeless man from Chehalis was trespassed from city-owned property in the 1200 block of Woodland Avenue just after 2:05 p.m. on Nov. 28 after he was found “in an old abandoned building with a small fire going on a concrete floor.” An officer put out the fire with a fire extinguisher. 

 

Vehicle accident 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of West Fourth and J streets at 7:20 a.m. on Nov. 29. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 



Theft 

• Items were reported stolen from a room inside a group home in the 1700 block of Southwest Armstrong Court at approximately 8:15 a.m. on Nov. 27. 

• A cellphone was reported stolen from Chehalis Middle School in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street at approximately 2:10 p.m. on Nov. 28. 

• A vehicle was reported as possibly stolen from the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 4:45 p.m. on Nov. 28. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• The manager of a property in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Wayn asked officers to trespass a male subject who was sleeping on a bench outside a property just after 12:10 p.m. on Nov. 27. Officers were unable to locate the subject. 

• A male subject who was “making inappropriate gestures” and “making comments to female staff members” in the infant clothing section of a store in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 5:35 p.m. on Nov. 27 was trespassed from the business. 

• A naked homeless man was asked to leave a property in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard just after 8:05 p.m. on Nov. 28. 

 

Assault 

• A fourth-degree assault was reported at W.F. West High School in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street at 12:45 p.m. on Nov. 27. 

• A female subject was arrested in the 2100 block of Jackson Highway at 5:35 p.m. on Nov. 27 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. 

 

Dispute 

• A physical dispute between a man and a woman was reported in the 100 block of North Market Boulevard just after 11:15 p.m. on Nov. 28. No arrests were made. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 154 inmates, including 141 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 117 were reported male and 24 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
