Sirens: Stolen Chickens; Counterfeiting; Employee Assaulted; K9 Pax Involved in Drug Arrest

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Counterfeiting

• A fake $50 bill was reported at a business in the 600 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 1:30 p.m. on July 15.

 

Retail Theft

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 1:35 p.m. on July 15 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly stealing merchandise from a business.

• A Centralia man was referred to the prosecutor’s office for theft charges just before 2:30 p.m. on July 15 after he allegedly stole merchandise from a business in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue.

• A Portland man was cited for stealing merchandise from a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 5:25 p.m. on July 15.

• Merchandise was reported stolen from a business in the 400 block of East Summa Street just after 7:20 p.m. on July 16.

• Fourteen live chickens were reported stolen from the Salvation Army in the 300 block of North Gold Street just before 8:40 a.m. on July 17. The case is under investigation.

• Two women reportedly took items from a store in the 1200 block of Lum Road just before 11:55 a.m. on July 17 without paying for them. One or both of the women reportedly assaulted a store employee who was trying to retain the stolen property. This case is under investigation.

• Shoes were reported stolen from a store in the 100 block of West High Street at 2:05 p.m. on July 17.

• A Kelso man was arrested in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 3:15 p.m. on July 17 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly shoplifting.

 

Vehicle Prowl

• Power tools were reported stolen out of the back of a pickup in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 3:30 p.m. on July 15.

• At 5:40 p.m. on July 15, medical equipment was reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue sometime within the last few days.

• An unidentified man reportedly reached inside the open window of a parked vehicle in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue just before 9:45 a.m. on July 16 and stole items.

 

Vehicle Theft

• Just after 7:05 p.m. on July 15, a utility trailer was reported stolen out of the 600 block of Centralia College Boulevard within the last few days. It was recovered locally.

• A vehicle was reported stolen from the 1600 block of Cooks Hill Road just after 9 a.m. on July 17. It was found abandoned overnight in Pierce County.

 

Burglary

• A burglary to a business in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue that was reported just after 6:15 a.m. on July 17 is under investigation.

 

Other Theft

• A firearm was reported stolen from the 1100 block of J Street just before 9:15 p.m. on July 17. The case is under investigation.

• Solar lights were reported stolen from a yard in the 100 block of Benjamin Street just after 11:20 p.m. on July 17.

 

Assault

• A Chehalis man was arrested in the 1200 block of Centralia Avenue just before 2 p.m. on July 15 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged second-degree assault, domestic violence.

• A possible assault against an employee at a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue that was reported just after 2:20 p.m. on July 16 is under investigation.

• A second-degree assault was reported at a community event in the 1900 block of South Gold Street just before 10 p.m. on July 16. No arrests were made.

 

Malicious Mischief

• A vehicle parked alongside the roadway in the 8200 block of the southbound collector distributor lane was reported damaged just before 1:20 a.m. on July 16.

 



Trespassing

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 1200 block of Alder Street just after 9:35 a.m. on July 17 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for trespassing after he allegedly failed to get out of another individual’s tent.

• A Centralia man was cited for trespassing in the 1300 block of Lum Road just after 11:45 p.m. on July 17 for allegedly going onto property he was trespassed from.

 

Vehicle Accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 11:50 p.m. on July 17.

 

Drug Violation

• Larry S. Young, 35, of Tacoma, was arrested in the 1300 block of Lum Road just after 5 p.m. on July 17 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly possessing narcotics with intent to deliver after he was found in possession of fentanyl pills and thousands of dollars of cash. Police K9 Pax assisted in the investigation by “alerting” on the vehicle Young was in.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Hit-and-Run

• At 8:50 a.m. on July 15, a hit-and-run to a mailbox in the 1400 block of Southwest Johnson Avenue that occurred overnight was reported.

• A hit-and-run was reported in a parking lot in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 5:20 p.m. on July 15.

• Just before 8:20 a.m. on July 16, a hit-and-run that occurred in the 600 block of Northwest New York Avenue sometime overnight was reported.

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1100 block of Southeast Washington Avenue at 4:50 p.m. on July 16.

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 600 block of Northwest St. Helens Avenue at approximately 12:55 a.m. on July 18.

 

Disorderly Conduct

• A man in the 1700 block of South Market Street was reportedly “in the middle of the (street) yelling and screaming at cars” and “telling people to come fight him” just before 10 a.m. on July 15.

• A man was arrested in the 1100 block of South Market Street just before 2:50 p.m. on July 15 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for trespassing after he was allegedly “swearing at everyone (and) dumping soda all over the place” inside a store he was trespassed from.

 

Shooting Complaint

• A caller in the 100 block of Northeast Washington Avenue reported hearing what sounded like two gunshots at 2:45 a.m. on July 16.

 

Theft

• A second-degree theft reported in the 2100 block of North National Avenue just after 12:35 p.m. on July 16 is under investigation.

• A burglary/theft reported in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 4:35 p.m. on July 16 is under investigation.

• An attempted burglary to a store in the 600 block of North National Avenue was reported just before 9:20 a.m. on July 17.

• Tabs were reported stolen off of a vehicle in the 500 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue just before 4 p.m. on July 17.

 

Suspicious Circumstances

• Just after 3:50 a.m. on July 17, a caller in the 300 block of Southeast Valley View Way reported a man had rung her doorbell multiple times then jumped onto her roof. No arrests were made.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 147 inmates, including 129 in the general population and 18 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 106 were reported male and 23 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 16 were reported male and two were reported female.
