Sirens: Tased by Security; Drunk in the Drive-Thru; Marble Shot at Residence; Indecent Exposure

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• A camera was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 400 block of North Tower Avenue at approximately 9:50 a.m. on Oct. 31.

• Grocery items were reported stolen from the 200 block of South Tower Avenue just before 4:10 p.m. on Oct. 31. The case is under investigation.

• A Centralia man accused of running from employees when confronted about stealing alcohol at a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue was cited for shoplifting just after 11 p.m. on Oct. 31.

 

Vehicle Accident

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 1200 block of Lum Road at 10:20 p.m. on Oct. 31.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A hit-and-run was reported at the intersection of Mellen Street and northbound Interstate 5 at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 1. The vehicle was described as “possibly red and would have front-end damage.”

 

DUI

• A fast food restaurant reported an intoxicated male drove through their drive-thru in the 1200 block of Lum Road at 10:20 p.m. on Oct. 31. Officers located the vehicle and arrested the driver, Brian K. Emmett, 54, of Centralia. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license and not having an ignition interlock in his vehicle.

 

Malicious Mischief

• An unidentified suspect reportedly shot a marble at a residence in the 500 block of West Cherry Street, breaking a window, just before 9:40 p.m. on Nov. 1. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

 

Harassment

• An intoxicated male reportedly threatened to assault a security officer “while rushing towards him with a raised fist” at the intersection of West Pear and South Rock streets just after 11:45 p.m. on Nov. 1. The security officer reportedly deployed his Taser to avoid being assaulted. The alleged assailant, Shawn L. Martin, 36, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for harassment and trespassing.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Assault

• Just before 2:15 p.m. on Oct. 31, a caller reported he was begging for food in the 700 block of West Main Street when a driver pulled up, “showed him (his) middle finger” and told him to “go back to Mexico.” The caller said he showed the driver his BB gun and left the area.

The driver soon called to report the incident, saying the initial caller had shot at his vehicle with the pellet gun. Neither side was willing to press charges at the time, according to the police call log. No arrests were made.

 

Indecent Exposure

• A case of indecent exposure reported in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 3:05 p.m. on Oct. 31 is under investigation.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 300 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue just before 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 31.

 



DUI

• Artemio M. Contreras was arrested in the 600 block of West Main Street at 9:20 p.m. on Nov. 1 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence after he crashed his vehicle into a pole.

 

Vehicle Accident

• A vehicle reportedly went off the roadway into a culvert in the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place just after 7:10 p.m. on Nov. 1. No injuries were reported.

 

Disorderly Conduct

• A disorderly subject was trespassed from a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 31.

• Just before 7:05 a.m. on Nov. 1, a caller reported a “weird old man” in the middle of the road at the intersection of Northeast Washington Avenue and Northeast North Street was “yelling at (the caller)” for refusing to “let him drive around.” No arrests were made.

 

Smashed Pumpkin

• A group of “teenagers wearing orange hard hats and yellow safety vests” reportedly harassed  someone in the 800 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue, smashed a pumpkin and threatened to destroy other decorations.

 

Malicious Mischief

• Graffiti was reported in the 10 block of Northeast Cascade Avenue at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Nov. 1.

 

Trespassing

• A case of criminal trespass reported in the 700 block of South Market Boulevard just after 12:25 p.m. on Nov. 1 is under investigation.

 

Theft 

• A lock box was reported stolen from a rental in the 1600 block of South Market Boulevard at 1:10 p.m. on Nov. 1. The suspect reportedly “busted the door handle” to gain entry.

• A case of third-degree theft reported in the 1900 block of Southwest Snively Avenue at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Nov. 1 is under investigation.

• A case of third-degree theft reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 9:25 p.m. on Nov. 1 is under investigation.

 

Abandoned Stroller

• At 4:35 p.m. on Nov. 1, a caller asked officers to check on a baby stroller that was abandoned on a bridge at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and Northwest Louisiana Avenue.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 162 inmates, including 144 in the general population and 18 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 118 were reported male and 26 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 16 were reported male and two were reported female.
