LEWIS COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT
Preliminary appearances
• Brenden T. Durgin, 18, Centralia, made a preliminary appearance Feb. 17 for one count each of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful imprisonment, felony harassment, reckless endangerment and reckless driving after he allegedly drove erratically at high speeds with a passenger in the vehicle before threatening that passenger with a “talon-shaped dagger,” according to court documents. The court set bail at $25,000 cash or bond along with standard conditions of release to include no contact with the alleged victim. On Feb. 19, the court ordered a competency evaluation to be conducted by Western State Hospital.
• Wendy M. Lalone, 51, Chehalis, made an out-of-custody preliminary appearance Feb. 18 for one count of second-degree theft after she allegedly stole $923.46 in items from the Chehalis Walmart. Lalone is scheduled for an arraignment on Feb. 26.
• Aaron D. Amundsen, 35, Graham, made an out-of-custody preliminary appearance Feb. 18 for one count of attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle after he allegedly admitted to “trying to outrun the deputy” following an attempted traffic stop in Packwood on Dec. 20, 2025, according to court documents. Amundsen is scheduled for an arraignment on Feb. 26.
CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Arrests
• Jonathan R. Rosado Ortiz, 35, Mossyrock, was arrested and booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for alleged fourth-degree assault domestic violence in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road at about 4:44 p.m. Feb. 19.
Accidents
• A hit-and-run collision was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at about 6:39 p.m. Feb. 19. There was no suspect information at the time of the report.
Criminal trespass
• Police found a transient from Centralia trespassing under the Harrison Avenue bridge at West First Street at about 2:27 a.m. Feb. 19. The man was issued a trespass warning.
• Teresa L. Leys, 56, Centralia, was arrested in the 100 block of South Silver Street at about 1:03 p.m. Feb. 19 after going onto property from which she had previously been trespassed.
Drug paraphernalia
• Isaiah Davis, 41, Centralia, was arrested and issued a criminal citation for alleged use or delivery of drug paraphernalia near the corner of South Yew Street and West Plum Street at about 9:34 p.m. Feb. 18.
Family disturbance
• Officers responded to a reported verbal dispute involving alcohol on Downing Road at about 10:23 p.m. Feb. 18. Officers arrived and determined the dispute was verbal only.
Fraud
• Officers responded to the 600 block of Harrison Avenue at about 2:46 p.m. Feb. 19 after a business reported that someone was attempting to return an item that was not purchased from the business. The suspect left prior to the police’s arrival.
Theft
• Carlos M. Perez, 35, Auburn, was arrested and issued a criminal citation for third-degree theft in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at about 3:33 a.m. Feb. 18 after he allegedly stole a BuzzBallz alcoholic beverage.
• A local store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue reported stolen alcohol at about 12:34 a.m. Feb. 19. The incident reportedly occurred the day prior and is under investigation.
CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT
Criminal trespass
• Teresa L. Leys, 56, Centralia, was cited for one count of alleged second-degree criminal trespass in the 200 block of Northwest Cascade Avenue at about 2:06 a.m. Feb. 18.
Animal negligence
• Kaden R. Wilson, 25, was cited for alleged counts of animal-at-large and animal abuse near the corner of South Market Boulevard and Southeast Eighth Street at about 6:18 a.m. Feb. 18.
JAIL STATISTICS
• As of Feb. 20, the Lewis County Jail had a total facility population of 180 inmates, including 167 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of the general population inmates, 138 were reported male and 29 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
• As of Feb. 20, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total jail population of 18 inmates. Of those, six were from Centralia and 10 were from the Department of Corrections. Additionally, there was one each from the Skokomish Tribe and the Suquamish Tribe.
