Sirens: Vicious dog; Nude man on train; Juvenile tries to buy drugs from homeless person; Flock camera strikes again

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Vicious dog 

• At approximately 7:45 a.m. on Aug. 2 there was a report that a dog attacked another dog in the 1400 block of Northwest Airport Road sometime overnight. 

 

Hit-and-run 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Aug. 2. 

• A four-vehicle, non-injury collision was reported at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and Northwest State Avenue at 3:25 p.m. on Aug. 2. The at-fault driver reportedly fled the scene northbound on Interstate 5. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• A subject was cited for trespassing after he allegedly tried to enter a vacant house in the 1400 block of Southwest Kelly Avenue just after 10:50 a.m. on Aug. 2. 

• A group of subjects were moved along from a parking lot in the 200 block of North Market Boulevard just after 1:45 p.m. on Aug. 2. 

• At 2:10 p.m. on Aug. 2, a caller in the 700 block of Southwest William Avenue reported an ongoing problem with a friend of her deceased husband repeatedly coming over to do work around her house uninvited. 

• A male subject was cited for trespassing in the 1500 block of North National Avenue just before 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 2. 

 

Malicious mischief 

• Just after 12:15 p.m. on Aug. 2, a caller reported someone walked through her field in the 500 block of Southwest Riverside Drive and slashed the tires on her tractor. 

 

Disorderly conduct 

• A male subject was moved along from a business in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 1:20 p.m. on Aug. 2 after he was reportedly “bothering customers” and refusing to leave. 

 

Theft 

• A case of possible theft was reported in the 800 block of Northwest St. Helens Avenue just after 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 2. 

• A case of vehicle theft reported in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 7:20 p.m. on Aug. 3 is under investigation. 

 

Indecent exposure 

• Just after 3:25 p.m. on Aug. 2, a caller who was watching a live feed of railroad tracks in the 300 block of Northwest State Avenue reported seeing a “male hanging off the train on the west side with no clothes on.” 

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Disorderly conduct 

• Just before 8:35 a.m. on Aug. 2, there was a report of a disorderly homeless man “who was screaming and threatening to kill persons who were not present” in the 300 block of North Gold Street. 



 

Criminal trespass 

• Several homeless people were reportedly setting up camp and littering in an alley behind a business in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue. The subjects were given verbal warnings for camping in the alley and littering. 

• Per the property owner’s request, several homeless people were trespassed from private property in the 100 block of East Maple Street just after 1:15 p.m. on Aug. 2. 

• Two subjects found camping on personal property in the 1100 block of Eckerson Road at approximately 3:55 p.m. on Aug. 2 were trespassed from the area. One subject was cited for an unrelated Centralia Municipal Court warrant. 

• Two homeless people were reportedly camping in an alley behind a business in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue just after 10:25 p.m. on Aug. 2. The subjects were given a verbal warning. 

• A homeless person was reportedly trespassing on personal property in the 300 block of West Fourth Street just before 4:05 p.m. on Aug. 3. 

 

Theft 

• A theft involving the unauthorized digital transfer of funds was reported in the 1700 block of Harrison Avenue just before 10:35 a.m. on Aug. 2. 

• An access device was reported stolen from the 300 block of South Silver Street just after 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 2. The case is under investigation. 

• Just after 1:20 p.m. on Aug. 3, a vehicle prowl that occurred in the 100 block of West Summa Street sometime overnight was reported. 

• At 3:35 p.m. on Aug. 3, an officer was dispatched to a report of a theft in the 100 block of South Silver Street involving a juvenile who attempted to purchase drugs from a homeless person.  The homeless person took a portion of the juvenile’s money. The officer was informed during the initial investigation that the juvenile obtained the money fraudulently. 

 

Assault 

• A 30-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 1100 block of Scammon Creek Road just after 12:55 p.m. on Aug. 2 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported on private property in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue just after 12:05 p.m. on Aug. 3. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue just before 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 3. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported on private property in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 3:10 p.m. on Aug. 3. 

 

Recovered vehicle 

• A 41-year-old Tumwater man was arrested in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue just before 5:10 p.m. on Aug. 3 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle after officers located him with a U-Haul that was reported stolen out of Chehalis. The vehicle alerted the Flock Safety camera system and officers located the vehicle at a local gas station, according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 147 inmates, including 134 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 101 were reported male and 33 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
