Sirens: Warnings for camping on city property; Smoking meth in a business's restroom; Several vehicle accidents reported

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal trespass 

• A group of homeless people were trespassed from city-owned property in a wooded area in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 8:40 a.m. on Nov. 3. They were given information on the Recovery Navigator program. 

• Several homeless people who were reportedly camping on city-owned property in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue were trespassed from the property just before 8:55 a.m. on Nov. 3. They were given information on the Recovery Navigator program. 

• A homeless man was warned for camping on the sidewalk in front of a business in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue just after 10:10 a.m. on Nov. 3. He was given information on the Recovery Navigator program. 

• Three homeless people were wanted for trespassing on private property in the 200 block of West Main Street just after 7:15 p.m. on Nov. 3. 

• A 46-year-old Centralia man was cited for second-degree criminal trespass in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 10 p.m. on Nov. 4. 

• Two homeless people found sleeping inside the storage area of a City of Centralia-owned building in the 500 block of North Pearl Street were trespassed from the property just before 2:55 a.m. on Nov. 5. 

• A man who reportedly ate products inside a store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue and didn’t pay for them when he left was trespassed from the business just after 7:50 a.m. on Nov. 5. 

 

Theft 

• A front license plate was reported stolen off of a parked vehicle in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road just before 11:05 a.m. on Nov. 3.

• Two cellphones were reported stolen from the 2800 block of Russell Road just before 4:35 p.m. on Nov. 3. The case is under investigation.  

• Assorted items were reported stolen from a business in the 300 block of West Reynolds Avenue just before 3:25 p.m. on Nov. 4. The case is under investigation. 

• A cellphone was reported stolen from a vehicle in a business parking lot in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue just after 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 4. No suspects have been identified. 

 

Identity theft 

• A 51-year-old Centralia woman was arrested and released on a Department of Corrections warrant at the intersection of East Locust Street and South Pleasant Avenue just after 10:45 p.m. on Nov. 4. She was later referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office for identity theft and a community custody violation. 

 

Burglary 

• Cameras were reported stolen during a burglary to a storage area in the 600 block of West First Street just before 11:05 p.m. on Nov. 4. The case is under investigation. 

 

Vehicle accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of West Reynolds Avenue and Taylor Street at approximately 1 p.m. on Nov. 3. One vehicle had pulled over to the right shoulder and a vehicle behind it attempted to drive around the left of the pulled-over vehicle, but both vehicles tried to merge back into the same lane of travel at the same time. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported on private property in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 10:45 a.m. on Nov. 4. Both drivers exchanged insurance information and handled the matter civilly, according to the Centralia Police Department. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported on private property in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue at 2:55 p.m. on Nov. 4. Both drivers exchanged insurance information and handled the matter civilly, according to the Centralia Police Department. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Belmont and Harrison avenues just after 7:35 p.m. on Nov. 4. One vehicle reportedly turned into another from the Interstate 5 ramp on Harrison Avenue. 

 

Hit-and-run 

• A 29-year-old Centralia man was cited for a hit-and-run to unattended property in the 500 block of North Pearl Street just before 9:45 a.m. on Nov. 4. 

• At approximately 6:40 p.m. on Nov. 4, a vehicle reportedly made a U-turn at a high rate of speed and struck a residential fence in the 600 block of West Maple Street then fled the scene. No suspects have been identified. 

 

Assault 

• A 23-year-old Centralia resident was arrested in the 400 block of West Pine Street just after 11:45 p.m. on Nov. 3 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. A 33-year-old Centralia resident was cited for damaging a wall during the altercation. 

• A 49-year-old Onalaska man was cited for fourth-degree assault and third-degree malicious mischief in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue at 11:20 a.m. on Nov. 3. 

 

Found child 

• A small child who walked away from their residence in the 1100 block of West Third Street just before 6:15 p.m. on Nov. 4 was located. The child’s parents were referred to Project Guardian. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal trespass 

• A male subject was reportedly trespassing on property at the intersection of Southwest Seventh Street and Southwest McFadden Avenue at 10:20 a.m. on Nov. 3. 

• A subject was reportedly trespassing on train tracks in the 600 block of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way just before 12:05 p.m. on Nov. 3. 

• Homeless people who were reportedly watching people take out money from an ATM in the 600 block of South Market Boulevard at 2:05 p.m. on Nov. 3 were moved along. 

• A subject who reportedly stole a large sandwich from a deli in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 2:35 p.m. on Nov. 4 was trespassed from the deli. 

• A subject was trespassed from the 300 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue at 4:45 p.m. on Nov. 4. 



• A subject was reportedly trespassing on train tracks in the 600 block of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way at 1 p.m. on Nov. 5. The subject was moved along. 

 

Assault 

• Just before 10:35 a.m. on Nov. 3, multiple assaults that occurred in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue over the past few days were reported. 

• At least one juvenile was arrested/released or referred on assault charges after a caller reported a group of juveniles were fighting in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at 1:15 p.m. on Nov. 4. 

 

Vehicle accident 

• A non-injury, non-blocking, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 2:05 p.m. on Nov. 3. 

 

Disorderly conduct 

• A disorderly male subject was reportedly making threats to relatives in the 1500 block of Southwest Mills Avenue just after 3:45 p.m. on Nov. 3. 

• An intoxicated disorderly male subject was reportedly walking into traffic in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at 6:35 p.m. on Nov. 3. 

• Two homeless men were reportedly yelling in the 100 block of Southwest William Avenue at 4:50 p.m. on Nov. 4. 

 

Suspicious circumstances 

• “Suspicious circumstances” reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at approximately 5 p.m. on Nov. 3 are under investigation. 

• Just before 3:50 a.m. on Nov. 5, a caller reported the door to an apartment in the 200 block of Northwest State Avenue was broken and the apartment looked like it had been ransacked. Car keys were reported missing. 

• Just after 9:55 a.m. on Nov. 5, a caller in the 200 block of Northwest State Avenue reported “someone is digging up through the floor trying to get to (the reporting party’s) bed.” The caller declined crisis care services. 

• Teneagers were reportedly “dancing around (and) screaming” in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 6:10 p.m. on Nov. 5. 

 

Malicious mischief 

• At 10:35 a.m. on Nov. 4, a caller reported someone had thrown a rock through the window of his vehicle in the 100 block of Southwest Fifth Street. 

 

Indecent exposure 

• A male subject was reportedly walking in the 200 block of Southeast Adams Avenue just after 12:45 p.m. on Nov. 4 without pants on. 

 

Theft 

• A subject in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was arrested/released or referred on assault charges at 8:40 p.m. on Nov. 4. 

• A vehicle prowl was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 4:40 p.m. on Nov. 5. 

 

Drug violations 

• A customer was reportedly smoking meth in the bathroom of a business in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard just after 5:15 p.m. on Nov. 4. 

• A subject in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was arrested/released or referred on drug violation charges at 8:50 p.m. on Nov. 4. 

• A subject in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue was arrested/released or referred on drug violation charges at 8:10 p.m. on Nov. 5. 

 

Unlawful possession 

• A subject was arrested in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 9:15 p.m. on Nov. 4 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for unlawful possession of a firearm. 

 

Burglary 

• A male subject was arrested in the 2100 block of North National Avenue at 12:50 a.m. on Nov. 5 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree burglary. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 163 inmates, including 150 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 119 were reported male and 31 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
