Sirens: Woman not drunk, she just 'parked poorly,' police confirm; Green Hill School assaults, contraband; pleas, sentencing and trial in Lewis County Superior Court

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Harassment

• A woman reported she was being harassed by multiple suspects who were “trying to take her Social Security money and take her cats” in the 100 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 7:45 a.m. on Oct. 9. The dispatcher noted the woman was “rambling a bunch.”

• A juvenile reported someone had made threats to beat them and their father in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court just before 4:25 p.m. on Oct. 10.

• Just before 6 p.m. on Oct. 10, a citizen in the 100 block of Northeast School Street reported their neighbor had made threats and harassed them about their dog.

 

Green Hill School

• A fourth-degree assault at Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street that was reported at 9:50 a.m. on Oct. 9 is under investigation.

• A fourth-degree assault at Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street was reported just before 3:35 p.m. on Oct. 9.

• Five separate cases of introducing contraband were reported at Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Oct. 9.

• Four custodial assaults were reported at Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street just before 3:35 p.m. on Oct. 9.

• A prison riot was reported at Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street at approximately 3:35 p.m. on Oct. 9.

 

Criminal trespass

• A man reportedly trespassed at a business in the 200 block of West Main Street just before 11:20 a.m. on Oct. 9.

• Four subjects were reportedly “digging around” in a dumpster in the 400 block of Northwest Front Street at 9:45 p.m. on Oct. 9. Officers didn’t find anyone in the area.

• Subjects who were selling puppies out of a vehicle in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 10 were moved along.

 

Dispute

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 1700 block of South Market Boulevard just after 1:35 p.m. on Oct. 9.

 

Malicious mischief

• At approximately 6:20 p.m. on Oct. 9, a citizen reported someone had slammed a car door into the reporting party’s car in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue.

 

DUI

• A citizen reported a possible DUI involving a woman who “parked crazy” in a business parking lot in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 12 a.m. on Oct. 10. Officers confirmed the woman was not intoxicated and had “just parked poorly.”

 

Vehicle accident

• A bus reportedly struck a parked vehicle at the intersection of Southeast Washington Avenue and Southeast Third Street at 8:45 a.m. on Oct. 10.

 

Theft

• A green electric bike was reported stolen from the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 12:20 p.m. on Oct. 10.

 

Animal negligence/abuse

• A citizen reported a possible puppy mill in the 200 block of Southwest Second Street at approximately 1:05 p.m. on Oct. 10.

 



Juvenile problem

• Just after 1:20 a.m. on Oct. 11, a juvenile reported her mother had handcuffed her to her best friend just after 1:20 a.m. on Oct. 11. The juvenile reported she and the friend jumped out of a window and fled.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle accidents

• A minor, non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Alexander Street just after 10:10 a.m. on Oct. 9.

• A vehicle drove over a traffic island and damaged a sign at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and West First Street just after 1:15 p.m. on  Oct. 10. The driver was issued infractions for driving with wheels off the roadway and for not having proof of insurance. No injuries were reported.

Malicious mischief

• At approximately 12:40 p.m. on Oct. 9, damage to a vehicle’s window in the 100 block of South Ash Street that occurred sometime overnight was reported.

• A disorderly man was reportedly running around in the roadway and screaming in the 900 block of L Street just before 7:10 a.m. on Oct. 10. He also reportedly punched a passing vehicle and possibly “wet himself.” The man, 65, of Centralia, was arrested for third-degree malicious mischief, domestic violence, for damaging a roommate’s vehicle.

 

Assault

• A 33-year-old Yelm woman was arrested for domestic violence assault in the 1000 block of South Yew Street just after 12:20 a.m. on Oct. 10.

 

LEWIS COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT

Sentencings

• Lance Pugh, 53, of Glenoma, entered an Alford plea on Sept. 11 to one count each of second-degree child molestation, second-degree arson and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. He was sentenced Oct. 9 to 26 months on count one, 12 months on count two and 14 months on count three, to run concurrently, with credit for time served. A lifetime no-contact order protecting the victim is in place. Pugh will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.

• Jacob Dylan Kennedy, 25, of Winlock, pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree rape of a child on Sept. 18. He was sentenced Oct. 9 to 30 months in prison. A lifetime no-contact order protecting the victim is in place.

• Tommy Dee Evans, 66, of Bucoda, pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree assault on Sept. 20. He was sentenced to 30 days in prison with credit for 15 days served. He is required to have a substance use disorder evaluation and comply with any recommended treatment. A no-contact order protecting the victim for the next 5 years is in place.

 

Change of plea

• Karlyn Suzann Buttelo, 48, of Mossyrock, pleaded guilty Wednesday, Oct. 9, to two counts of felony forgery and one count of second-degree theft. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 23.

 

Jury trial

• Trial for Dalton Reese Palmer, 27, of Centralia, on second-degree assault and third-degree malicious mischief charges began Tuesday, Oct. 8, in Lewis County Superior Court.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Wednesday morning and Friday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 42 illness-related calls, 15 injury-related calls, 13 fire-related calls, one Lifeline medical alert, three non-emergency service calls, four vehicle accidents, three overdoses, one hazardous conditions report, one medical helicopter request and one other call.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 145 inmates, including 147 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 103 were reported male and 29 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of nine inmates, including three booked by the Centralia Police Department, three booked by the state Department of Corrections and three booked by the Lummi Nation.
