The Onalaska girls basketball team couldn’t shake off a rough start Monday, falling to 1A Hoquiam 46-29 at home in non-league play.
The Loggers didn’t get onto the scoreboard until the second quarter, and trailed 23-7 at halftime.
“We started off slow again tonight,” Onalaska coach Alana Olson said. “We weren't attacking the basket on offense and got in foul trouble on defense.”
Brooklyn Sandridge scored 14 points to pace Onalaska with nearly half of its scoring, and also logged three assists and three steals. Jen Lispey led the board effort with five rebounds.
In the second half, freshmen Sage Teitzel and Randi Haight helped get the Loggers going with defense, which turned into a closer score over the latter two quarters, but Onalaska could make up the deficit any closer than 10 points.
The Loggers (0-6, 0-4 C2BL) will keep up the search for their first Thursday, at Forks.
