A snowmobiler was rescued near Mount Baker over the weekend after being involved in an accident.

A Whidbey Island Naval Air Station Search and Rescue team received a request for a rescue at about 3:40 p.m. on Saturday, April 1. The helicopter was airborne by 4:30 p.m. and arrived at the accident scene just before 5 p.m.

The snowmobiler was found unconscious with a restricted airway, according to a naval station news release. The release did not identify the snowmobiler or elaborate on the extent of their injuries.

The search and rescue team hoisted the snowmobiler into the helicopter around 5:20 p.m. and airlifted them to St. Joseph hospital in Bellingham by about 5:40 p.m.

This is the fifth mission conducted by the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station Search and Rescue team so far this year, including one MEDEVAC, one search and three rescues.
