On Friday, Feb. 13, the Chehalis Youth Wrestling program hosted a special champion-inspired practice for their wrestlers and those within the Twin City Wrestling Club.
Practice was led by last year's 190-pound 2A State Champion Tucker Land and 175-pound State Champion hopeful W.F. West High School senior Graysen Serl.
Both young men have racked up an outstanding number of achievements in the wrestling community. They are both four-year varsity wrestlers at W.F. West and received All-American status last year.
Land is a four-time state placer, and Serl is on his way to be a three-time state placer by the end of February.
Land also won the championship at 195 pounds at Reno Worlds, and Serl is undefeated in his senior year while also breaking the W.F. West single-season pin record at districts, landing at 29 pins for the year so far.
With Land’s picture hung on the wall in the Chehalis wrestling room commemorating his noteworthy wrestling career, and all the hype this year surrounding Serl’s current domination on the mat, the youth wrestlers were inspired to be coached by these two.
Chehalis Youth Wrestling program is incredibly grateful these young men took time out of their busy schedules to be role models for the youth. They are examples of the hard work and dedication to the sport that is at the core of our program.
The hope was to encourage our wrestlers to dream big and give them an opportunity to pick the brains of two athletes that put in the discipline to achieve their wrestling goals.
