Stellar serving leads Cardinals to win over Warriors

The Winlock volleyball team stayed unbeaten with a convincing victory at Chief Leschi, earning the win in four sets 25-10, 25-7, 20-25, 25-5.

Kindyl Kelly led the way offensively with 10 kills, and Madison Rohman was next up with six.

Wincock (3-0) didn’t need to record a lot of kills because of their efficiency serving the ball. In recent practices, Cardinal coach Terri Dalsted said that serving has been a point of emphasis, and on Monday, the Cardinals tallied 31 aces.

Rohman and Charlee Connelly were perfect serving, going a combined 23 for 23, while Brianna Ochoa was nearly perfect, going 18 for 19.

“We’ve just really been focusing on being more competitive and consistent with our serving,” Dalsted said. “Tonight was a good night putting that into action.”

In the lone set the Cardinals lost, Dalsted said she experimented by putting different players in different positions.

“And that was the outcome,” Dalsted said with a laugh.

The Cardinals will look to remain unbeaten tomorrow in Morton when they take on MWP at 7 p.m.
