Lewis County Fire District 14, better known as Randle Fire & EMS, rescued a stray kitten after it found itself in a tight spot on Thursday, Aug. 6.
Calling it an “eventful morning,” the department detailed the animal rescue in a social media post.
On Thursday, Randle Fire & EMS were notified the kitten had become trapped inside a small pipe.
“Engine 14-1, one of our support service members, and a helpful resident on scene worked together to safely free the curious little kitten,” the department wrote. “We're happy to report the kitten was successfully rescued and has found a new home with one of our responders! A big thank you to everyone who lent a hand to give this tiny survivor a second chance. No matter the emergency, big or small we're always happy to serve our community!”
Onalaska Farm Sanctuary also wrote about the rescue on social media.
She shared a message she received after the successful rescue: "Kitten has been rescued from the pipe. Neighbor had most of pipe cut when I arrived but was dealing with dead battery. I drove to fire department and grabbed my team members. By the time we got back, the pipe was fully cut. My hands are small enough for the pipe so I slowly pulled the kitten out. Baby cat is at fire department now. She had bath, small amount of food, warm cuddles. Bringing scale, capstar, flea comb back to fire department. We have an adopter lined up."
