Sweet Relief: Cooler Weather Is Coming to South Sound, Forecaster Says

Posted

After a week of scorching temperatures and sleepless nights, the South Sound has earned itself a break in the form of cooler weather, according to the National Weather Service in Seattle.

The cool down begins Monday, said meteorologist Matthew Cullen.

"It's a break from the very hot pattern that we have had," he said.

Daytime highs on Monday will top out in the mid-80s, which is about 10-15 degrees cooler than it has been, and Monday will be followed by even cooler weather, he said.

The rest of the week should see highs in the mid to upper 70s, Cullen said. Next weekend shows signs of a slight warming trend, but nothing like the temperatures the region has experienced in the past week.

Next weekend, temperatures could rise into the low 80s, which is right around normal for the time of year, Cullen said.

Atmospherically, the strong high pressure weather system that parked itself over the region the past week will move off to the east and be replaced by a low pressure system that will break down those temperatures, he said.

It should bring more clouds, too. They area should expect morning clouds that will eventually retreat as temperatures warm, he said. Overnight lows are expected to fall into the 50s.
