The Tumwater girls basketball team opened its week on the road with a league win Tuesday, beating Aberdeen 57-40 in Grays Harbor County in 2A EvCo action.

The T-Birds (4-0, 3-0 2A EvCo) trailed 9-6 after an ugly first quarter, but found its mojo in the second, ripping off a 24-4 run to go into halftime up by 17.

That’s where the lead would stay through the second half, with Aberdeen cutting things down to 11 at one point early in the fourth quarter, but Tumwater pushing it back by the final buzzer.

Rhylee Beebe led Tumwater with 19 points, and also had four steals, three assists and five rebounds. Regan Brewer put down a triple-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 11 steals, and also led the T-Birds with five assists.

Sophomore Elsa Schrek came away with nine rebounds and six points in her first varsity action.

Tumwater will get another road league test Thursday, at Centralia.
